Love & Light

Hello, and happy February, the month of love.  That should be every month, shouldn't it?  I've made a card that will send love, but it's not a Valentine.  It's part of the card order I've been working on almost exclusively.  Actually, I finished up the last of 20 cards over the weekend and then I did a happy dance.

This card started with the background.  You can smoosh, splash, splatter or swipe just about anything on a background and it will look good when die cut.  I made a mint green watercolor wash and then plopped Ken Oliver Liquid Metal - Yellow Gold - onto a few areas.  Swiped it around with an inexpensive synthetic paint brush, and it didn't look so great.  Not to worry.  The die cut makes it appear as though I'd planned it that way all along.

The stamps are Power Poppy's Peony Muse, embossed in light gold and watercolored with Twinkling H2Os.  I added gold die cut grassy elements and an abundance of sequins.  The sequins down there by the stem are a cover up.  The grass die cuts and the sequins near the sentiment were added as filler because I felt the placement of the sentiment was somewhat awkward.  Some cards are just full of cover ups and fix 'er ups, aren't they?

Have you tried any of the Ken Oliver Liquid Metals?  I've had this little bottle for ??? years and have never used it till now.  I was very impressed with how pretty this Yellow Gold is.

Well, that's it till next time.  I have enough cards photographed to keep me busy on the blog for a while... as soon as I write them up.  See you again soon!

Stamps:  Power Poppy Peony Muse  Paper:  Neenah Classic White, Arches 140 lb hot pressed watercolor, gold mirror card stock  Ink:  Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black, mint green (remember SU Mint Melody?)  Coloring:  Watercolor background for die cut, Twinkling H2Os watercolor for flowers  Accessories:  Sequins, Ken Oliver Yellow Gold Liquid Metal, Stamp 'n Stuff Sahara Pearls embossing powder (old)  Dies:  Poppystamps Thicket Frame, Impression Obsession Grass Border

I also haven't heard of liquid gold but then again I don't do lots of new things anymore. I think we all get into times when we have a boo boo to cover up on our cards and I'm always hopeful for a flower fix as I always have a spare flower laying around. Have a wonderful week!

Oh my! HowEVER did I miss this amazing gold metallic product, especially with the other lovelies by Ken Oliver in my stash? Definitely on my list now. I'm assuming it's just as easy to use as his other products? I especially like that your background die is distressed / variegated. The sentiment is beautiful, the PP peony is gorgeous, the H2Os are beautiful - sigh - it's another Leslie Miller masterpiece that has stolen my heart! Thank you, Leslie, for another educational experience! LOL (by the way, do you own any of his other metallic colors? It's in my Amazon shopping cart as we speak LOL Thanks for finding something else I simply can NOT live without, my wonderful NW friend! hugs, de

Be still my heart! Leslie this is gorgeous to say the least. Your background is beautiful as is your H20 flower. I don't think I have heard of the liquid metal, but I think it is something I need to have!
I really like all the gold sequins you placed around, really accents your card. Oh your friend will love this card (well all your cards) when she receives her order. That's a lot of cards to make, but glad you are finished. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the them when time permits! Well I must scroll back up for another look (big sigh!) Another masterpiece Leslie! Thanks for sharing today.

So beautiful. You are always coming up with something new to use on your cards that I don't have. I'm trying to be good and not buy too much stuff right now. The H2O's and the liquid metal are fabulous on your card.

Your die-cut background is gorgeous, Leslie! I can't believe it was something you were unhappy with. Such a pretty flower, and your cover-ups and fix 'er ups are perfectly placed. I haven't even heard of Ken Oliver Liquid Metal.

This card has everything that I love! An abundance of sequins, WOW! Love the way you used those and the liquid gold to enhance the beautiful image and die cut. Pink and soft green are a favorite of mine too, and with the touch of gold it all looks light, airy and so lovely.

Wow, a totally gorgeous card and I think all the beautiful gold elements set off that stunning flower beautifully! From what I have read above it looks as though Ken Oliver will have a major sale of liquid gold as it seems we are all in agreement, it added so much!! Twenty cards for an order is a lot, and I bet you have a BIG sigh of relief and the friend that ordered them will not want to part with any of them, I know I wouldn't!! Have a great day!!

Beautiful, you would never know there were any problems this looks fantastic, I do like how backgrounds that didn't turn out quite like you wanted make great die cut backgrounds, the embossing on the flower is so pretty along with all your other gold accenting. I believe I have some of those metals but not sure if I have tried them or not, I have used the bursts but was not sure about the metals, I need to break them out now :) Glad you were able to get your order done and look forward to seeing them all!
