Twinkling Sunflowers Just for Fun

Welcome to Week Two of 2019!  As I hop around the blogs I've been reading of resolutions.  Have you made any?  I always start out with good intentions regarding stamping, but you know what they say about resolutions -- they're made to be broken.  Come what may, I do plan, as always, to make my way through the not-yet-used supplies, so I've watercolored one of my Christmas presents today:  Whimsy Stamps Stained Glass Sunflower.

It's a beautiful thing that makes the whole card, so I simply mounted it on white and added a skinny sentiment.  The image was stamped with Versamark ink and embossed in black.  Painted with Twinkling H2Os and just enough shading in certain areas to avoid a flat look to the overall image.

It twinkles so prettily in the sunlight, but sunlight was nowhere to be seen when I took the pictures.  Must move along, rather than wait for a sunny day.  After turning it every which way, the photo below is the best I could do.

Take my word, it twinkles!  Have a fabulous day!

Stamps:  Whimsy Stamps Stained Glass Sunflower, Stampin' Up! retired birthday sentiment  Paper:  Arches 140 lb hot pressed watercolor, SU Whisper White  Ink:  Versamark  Coloring:  Twinkling H2Os  Accessories:  Black embossing powder, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

Oh so very pretty and I can see the twinkle but I bet IRL it really sparkles!! A beautiful stamp, a Xmas present, is it one you bought for yourself lol? I haven't used my H2O's in a couple of years, guess I should get them out. It is fun seeing a stained glass stamp as mostly I have seen just the dies. We have had several sunny days and a bit warmer too, very unusual for Michigan this time of year, but I love it...only thing is once that snow comes we are all going to groan as so far this winter we have been spoiled!!

Wow! This is gorgeous, Leslie! What a fantastic stamp! You've colored it to perfection, of course, which makes it even more beautiful! An awesome way to start my day!

What a beautiful gift and I'm sure it is GORGEOUS IRL! Your coloring is always so perfect and the addition of this narrow sentiment looks awesome! Great job! I make no resolutions but I do try to be a better person with each passing year! I guess that's my FOREVER RESOLUTION! The 12 days of Christmas are over so my day will be spend taking everything down and packing it away for another year! It just so happens I do have one or two stainglass stamps and you've inspired me on blowing the dust off them and seeing what I can come up with. HUGS

Wow! Your birthday recipient will be delighted, Leslie! Such lovely coloring (this must have been lots of fun to color), and beautiful, vibrant color choices! Certainly does look like "shaded" stained glass, but the shaded areas look like the changes in light refraction coming through the leaded glass. It's lovely! No New Promises to myself for 2019, but will strive to keep last year's, which were also successful. My biggest change this year was rather external - to be more patient with myself as these diseases grip me, and then slowly release their grip a bit, and then come back. I'm still trying to walk - it's amazing how many muscles are used to stamp an image! Thank goodness for digitals! Still, my body parts are not working, and also causing intense pain. Surely this will ease up soon! Enough whining, my dear friend, I'm sorry - wishing you all the glorious joy and color found in this fantastic, shimmering creation! hugs, de

What a gorgeous card Leslie, the stain glass look is amazing and your coloring simply superb. I shy away from big stamp images, I get very intimidated thinking it will be hard to fill all of the sections. You did a fabulous job my friend, WOW!!
As you know, my 2019 resolution is to use my older stamps and dies every day and not to buy any new stuff, if I do buy something, it has to be truly because I can't live without it, I'm sorry to say I have a few sets I bought the last months of last year that haven't even been open, for shame!!!!!
Thank you for sharing this spectacularly beautiful card.
XO

A gorgeous stained glass design and I love the way you colored it. I can just imagine how beautiful it is in real life. But even with this photo I can still detect a bit of the shimmer. Great work my friend.

The twinkle must be amazing in real life, Leslie! It's a stunning image that you've twinkled sensationally! I've moved my twinkle paints closer and out in the open, so I'm hoping I'll use them after umpteen years. I've tried to train Hammy to remind me, but when I say twinkle, he thinks I mean winking and runs for the WOS brush, and then I have to explain and he's all upset ... so today I'm putting a little pot and brush in his cage so he can see hands on what I mean by twinkle. I'm also printing your card for his inspiration and that should do the trick! Thank you!! (Looking forward to Thursday!!) Hugs, Darnell

It definitely looks like stained glass! No matter what you color, it's always beautiful, Leslie. And the layer of Twinks is perfect. (That reminds me of the 100+ Twinks that I have ...and haven't used for a couple of years. Maybe I should add those to my plan to use my uninked stamps!)

This is such a happy card.

Oh Leslie, this is beautiful. You have coloured this to perfection, and just love the twinkles the H20's give. I seriously really need to pull mine out, although I say that every time you colour with yours, and they still sit up in the bucket on my shelf. You know every Monday when I'm at work, I look forward to getting home and checking out what you have posted. This is such a delightful happy image to see today. No sun our way either, actually for the 2 weeks I was off, I believe we only had sun for 3 days, the rest was gloomy, and this morning we had freezing rain, dark, and it is now turned to rain - yuk! but the good side we don't have to shovel rain :). TFS today Leslie.

Oh I do love the look of stained glass and this gives me the feeling of a blooming sunflower and I just love it, as always your shading just makes it, and I can see the pretty sparkle in that last picture, I really need to break out my twinkling H2O's again, I love how they look here. Your skinny sentiment is just perfect here, I wouldn't want you to cover anymore of this beauty :)

That stained glass look is so pretty and the sunflower makes me smile! We woke up to an inch of snow this AM and cold and damp! Joe and I are tempted to steal the kids RV parked in our yard and head south! My resolution is to try and make one Christmas card a month and used different techniques. I have to get out my HSO's!!

Smiling... That is what this made me do. So cheerful and vibrant and you can't help but smile. Glad you got to use a Christmas present and beautiful water coloring.
I am not a fan of the new years resolution thing and never do them. However this year while in Hawaii for Christmas I decided that I want to be more intentional. Funny how that has sorta of soaked into a lot of things already. I am seeing that word and inspiration all over the place. Maybe it was there before but, I started to notice it more everywhere I turn. Anyways- just food for thought each day. Like that song Day One I posted. On that note you know how much I adore you Leslie. I thank you for continuing to be an inspiration to me as a friend and crafter. Hugs to you this weekend. Please give those fur babies a hug and kiss from me. ;-)
