Halloween Visit

Hello there!  Just for fun and frivolity I have another Halloween card today.  This one is a Penny Black stamp called Halloween Visit.  The link takes you to 123 Stitch, a super fun place to shop, but it can be found other places, as well.  My good friend shared this stamp with me.  Thank you, friend!

I colored with Copics, but the grass and pumpkin vines are done with the bullet tip of a green Tombow marker.  Sponged ink around the edges.  The black zig zag is a Hero Arts stamp.  Every time I use it I wonder why I don't use it more often.  It looks totally real, doesn't it?  Same with the red speckles.  That's an old SU stamp -- Itty Bitty Backgrounds.  Adds just the right somethin' somethin'.  The sentiment is Whipper Snapper and I found it appropriate because this stamp image is just the teensiest bit frightful, but delightful, as well.

Oh... almost forgot... the leafy corner die is not pumpkin leaves, but it works.  It's an older Die-namites Ivy Corner.  Sponged and speckled.

I photographed the Copic pumpkin colors.  They're not the usual oranges, but they give a warm glow.

I'm in a bit of a hurry because we have campsite reservations for soonish and there's lots to do before we go, including a couple more cards that need making.  Rushing off now...  You have a happy day!

Hi, Leslie! Isn't that the perfect sentiment for your incredible image? Truly Frightful and delightful. But it is your Leslie-Magic that brings this scene to a magnificent Fall show piece. Those dotted splatters, the inky loveliness the stitching, and yes, the non-pumpkin vine die cut, all contribute to one of the best Halloweenie cards of the year! You know how I am in love with your coloring skills, and the shading in the pumpkin is amazing! "Flicking" your grass with Tombows, is that a new technique? LOL You had a great time with this card, didn't you? hugs, de

That is a fantastic design and a stamp I was just admiring the other day when I was on the Penny Black web site. I can say you really made that stamp image work well as your card is so well done. And, I too, love that sentiment. Thanks for sharing. I just bought some dies that I might have to work into Halloween cards somehow so I am starting to get into the mood. LOL

Very cool and spooky, your coloring of the pumpkin is awesome and I will have to say that all your little touches, faux stitching, platters and the corner die all come together to make this one awesome card!!

I love this Halloween stamp - so fun wth the black bird looking down at the pumpkin! Yes, the leaves look great on the pumpkin as well. Love the colors! One has to love those great background stamps and the sentiment is just right for this card! Don't forget those warm clothes when you pack - with our weather our heat is actually on! Have fun!

Leslie, you are a pro at combining stamp sets and dies...the vine is perfect for this! Not overly frightful, but definitely artistic!! I am so glad I actually have the bitty dots and thank you for the reminder as splashing paint on my cards or inks is a messy endeavor! This brought such a smile! Wishing you a blessed day.

Leslie, you can never go wrong with a Penny Black stamp! I love all of their images. You have designed this to a tee, as you always do. Love your colouring along with all your faux stitching, and red speckles. (I have both of these stamps and I never think to use them - and yes the zig zag stamp does look real!) Background paper is perfect as well as your die cut leafy corner! Well done. Enjoy your getaway!

This is just my kind of Halloween card, not too scary but so many fun details! The stamped stitching does look real, and I appreciate you showing the marker colors. Hope your trip is good, Leslie! We are hunkering down to wait for the hurricane to hit here...

Festive and fun for halloween. The black on your bird is awesome Leslie. I do think that the leafy die is perfect even if its not the "right" kind.
