Power Poppy--Mintay Fusion

Hello, friends!  We've reached Flowerful Friday again and I have a very flowerful card to share.  I mentioned in an earlier post that I have five new Mintay 6x6 designer paper pads.  Oh, my word, I can't stop looking at them.  Probably my favorite of the five will be whichever I'm working with at the time and today it's the collection called "Farm Life".

As is so often the case, many of the papers are too pretty to cut down or cover up, but I bought them to use, rather than hoard, so I must figure a way to work this out.  Looking at this particular piece, an idea sprang to mind.

Gee, I hope it won't be my only idea.  Luckily, there are four sheets of each double sided design, so it wasn't too painful to slice off the top four inches of this one.  The card base is 4 1/4 x 6, so I was able to use all but 1/4" of the sheet crosswise.  Power Poppy's "Go Wild" pitcher of fresh picked roses and strawberries was stamped directly onto the sheet and colored with Copics.  It's nestled in as though it was mean to be.

The sentiment flag shows the flip side of this sheet.  The stitching helps frame it up, and I added the Copic-colored leaf die cut for additional dimension and grounding of the image.

I've already started playing with more Mintay and Power Poppy, but the idea hasn't yet come to fruition, and by the time you read this I might be camping again.  Maybe I've got my coloring with me...  Have a happy day!

Oh my goodness, what a lovely background sheet! I'm afraid this would be one that just has to be hoarded...yes I'm definitely a hoarder! How wonderful to just use the sheet and add a sentiment and some stitching and off it goes!

Leslie, this is beautiful how you stamped your image directly onto your gorgeous paper. I just received 4 Mintay 6x6 pads this week as well and want to order a couple more. Shipping is expensive to Canada because of the weight. I'm going to have a hard time cutting into these, but hey it's only paper and as you said there are 4 sheets of each! Ok back to your card. I love the way you have nestled the vase along side the flowers and the sentiment flag is perfect. Your stitching always adds that finishing touch to your cards. I'm sure you are out enjoying nature, wishing you a safe and happy trip! Have a great weekend. Hugs,

This gorgeous card made my day! Any time you post a flower card I just drool! You are absolutely the queen of flowers! NOBODY can color them the way you do! They always look more like photos than colored images! What a fabulous idea to stamp that beautiful image directly on the paper! The result is just stunning!!! Love, love this card!

Gorgeous designer paper and stamped and colored Power Poppy flowers, Leslie. You could easily just stamp a sentiment on this gorgeous paper and just die cut the framing to make a stunning card. Wow...TFS your beauty, my friend. Hugs...

GORGEOUS coloring on your sweet image and yes these papers are 'hoardable' for sure lol! (I have them too ya know!) A few years back I stopped making A2 cards and started creating A6 cards primarily so I could get a better use of my pretty papers (even the 12x12s). Your stitching has added such a wonderful extra element to your creation ... BEAUTIFUL!

Beautiful as always. I have never heard about or seen these papers. I can see why you don't want to cut them up.The Poppy Stamps are a perfect match for the papers. Have fun camping.

This is so pretty, Leslie! I love finding ways to add a simple stamp and greeting to a beautiful piece of pp so I love what you've done here! That flower pitcher truly looked like a part of the paper design; that's how magnificent your coloring is!! If you go off camping again this weekend, be safe and have a wonderful time!! Hugs, Darnell

Gorgeous paper and beautifully coloured flowers love the stitched edges and what a great sentiment as opposed to the standard happy birthday! Okay I adnit I buy papers because I love them and have great ideas for use--then hate to use them-get them out look at them then put them back lol at this rate I will need another couple of lifetimes to use them all

To stamp directly on the pretty paper, and be inspired color-wise by the pretty borders, must be fun all in itself. Leslie, it's a beautiful birthday creation. Your little "sweet friend" sentiment describes the mood perfectly - complete sweetness! I'm always amazed at your ability to highlight each petal, despite the smallness of the petals! Even the scissors are shaded! Thanks for sharing Nature through your eyes. Happy Weekend! hugs, de

Beautiful!!! I love how you colored the flowers to match those in your lovely paper, and the coloring worked perfectly on those papers, like that you were able to use the backside of the paper for that great sentiment!, if you are camping I hope you are enjoying yourself and took your coloring with you :)

I like how this card came together. Stamping on the paper looks like it was part of the the paper. It is sometimes hard to cut into paper that you have been hoarding. But you are right. We brought them to use and you did this paper proud. Love your flower cards! Have a great weekend!

Oh, what gorgeous DP, Leslie, and it's perfect with this image! I love that you've stamped it on the DP and colored it...it was meant to be there. And you've colored it so beautifully and have a gorgeous layout! It's a stunning card, and I love that sentiment! I was showing this card to my husband, and he was surprised you hadn't colored the background and loved the banner and the leaf die. See, men can appreciate beautiful cards too!! Hehe! Thanks for sharing this gorgeous card!! Hugs!
