Long Time No See

Hello!  It's been a while.  We were away on vacation and getting back in the stamping groove has been difficult.  I've started sorting through the 200+ pictures I took and now I'm finally coloring again, but today I have a card I made before vacation.  I wanted it to be received before I posted it.  My friend was having cataract surgery and I felt this Whipper Snapper Get Well Dog with his bandaged eye would be fun to send.

Isn't that eye chart paper the most perfect thing?  It's actually a reminder postcard sent by our ophthalmologist.  I saved it a while back just in case I could upcycle it for a card, and then the ideal occasion came along.  I didn't want to cover up too much and lose the effect, but it needed something so I made the skinny oval frame to define the dog's space.

Coloring is Copics on X-Press It Blending Card.  A minimal color palette and the frame popped up helps set it apart from the busy background.  It was a happy time creating this card!

I'll be back again on Wednesday.  Take care till we meet again!

Stamps:  Whipper Snapper Get Well Dog  Paper:  X-Press It Blending card for dog, Neenah 110 lb white (colored with Copics) for hearts, SU Cool Caribbean for frame and card base, postcard from ophthalmologist for eye chart background  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Cameo Coral for sentiment, Copics for coloring  Accessories:  Spellbinders Grand Ovals, Paper Smooches Hearts, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

Glad you are home from your travels, and sorting through 200 photos! Yikes! I can hardly wait to see them! Your card is OH SO CUTE! I hope you scanned the post card before using it, for future use because it is the best background EVER! I love everything about your card, especially the oval, and recovering doggy in the "corner" of the oval. Can ovals have corners? It's a fantastic card your friend will cherish. hugs, de

Oh, I LOVE this card! Perfect for eye surgery!! I love Whipper Snapper stamps but rarely buy them since they don't have an angel policy and a lot of my cards go for craft shows. Darn! I've even written them to see if they would change the policy, but no luck. Saving that post card was brilliant! It makes the perfect background for your adorable dog! And I just saw the link to your craft room this morning. WOW! I thought I was organized, but you have me beat by a country mile!

Oh my goodness, what a perfect card for your friend! Your dog is so sweet along with those hearts to show a bit of love. The background is fabulous - great idea to save that. Your complete layout is wonderful, the colours are perfect together, and love the happy healing sentiment, it's just an all around perfect card. Glad you had a good time away, looking forward to seeing some of your photos when time allows. Have a wonderful day. It's a holiday here in Canada since July 1st was yesterday, we have today off. It's already 100F at 8:00am - will get up to about 115F today. It's been like this since friday and will continue all week. Just hoping for a bit of rain as they do forecast when you get hot temps like this, but sometimes they are a hit and miss. Looking forward to seeing your post on Wed.

Oh my, Leslie, but you are so creative and clever. LOVE your sweet healing pup and how you made an open frame bring your design together without covering up the perfect background card. Such a fun recycle project. Your friend is going to get a real chuckle out of her card. TFS Hugs...

Oh Leslie! This is the most darling card! Using that reminder piece in this way is perfect for the occasion, and your wonderfully inventive mind adding that circle frame adds so much to the one-eyed pooch. Your cards must be the ones that your friends keep "forever."
