Moonlight Sailing

Welcome back!  I continue to work away at the not-yet-used stamps. I've only had this one for a couple of years.  I know!

I keep stamping flowers and critters, critters and flowers, and have felt I should do something else once in a while.  I wondered what that would be, hmmm?  Well, I live close to the beach, so how about some beachy cards?  And that's how this stamp came into my collection.  More on that in a minute, but first, the card:

And here's how the stamp is depicted on the packaging:

I thought it would make good masculine cards, and I do like the stamp, but the more I looked at it, the more I puzzled over the coloring of it.  I could be wrong, but it seemed to me, whether that large orb was a vivid sunset or a full moon rising, there probably wouldn't be much color showing on the boat.  Maybe it should be more of a silhouette.  I don't know... what do you think?

At any rate, after pondering this for two years (!!) I finally decided to color it as a silhouette against a splendiferously huge, bright, other worldly kind of moon.  Just a hint of color showing on the boat.  The sentiment is from another not-yet-used stamp set.  I can see it as a retirement card.  Now, all I need is for a guy friend to retire.  However, with the right sentiment inside, it could be used for other occasions, too.

More not-yet-used supplies on the frame -- the anchor and fishing net -- which I bought for all these (ahem) beachy cards I planned to make.  The fishing net is a large square, but as you can see, I used just a corner of it.  Another corner decorates the inside of the card.

Maybe later I'll make it into a sunset.

I've been doing more than my usual volume of stamping, so I'll pop in again Friday.  I have to keep this up or I'll lose my momentum.  It's always been the case -- the more I stamp, the more I stamp.  Know what I mean?  Have a happy day!

LOVE this card! And going with a silhouette against the moon was a perfect choice. Your background is fabulous! And I love the fish net accents! Along with that pop of red and you have created the perfect guy card!

Yes, I know exactly what you mean! It's the same for me - the more I stamp the more easily the creativity flows. And your mojo is on a fabulous roll! I love what you did with this stamp. In two years or five - I could never have imagined it as a huge moonlit sky. This is absolutely stunning, Leslie! It seems I have some beachy things in the never-used pile too. The die cut accents add just the right touch. I LOVE the sentiment best.

When I saw your card in my sidebar, I was so surprised to see that it was yours! How different from your other cards! This is so dramatic, and your choice of colors is perfect for it. (I really can't imagine it in red.) And the sentiment certainly seems made for the image. It's really a gorgeous card, Leslie.

love the card. Love it as a moon type silhouette. That's a really nice stamp. mmmm maybe a shopping spree... Love the anchor die cut as well. I think I even have the net.
So I guess you need to try it in full sun now...
Have a great day

This is stunning!! I really love the dark sky with the moon all aglow, Leslie!! I make a lot of cards and then wait for the occasion, usually! I wish it didn’t take me so long to come up with an idea as the longer I go the harder it is. On the other hand, sometimes I don’t stop and my husband teases me I work in a “card factory!” So for me...balance is key!

This is Stunning! I would of never thought of colouring this as a silhouette against the moon, but rather like the sun as shown in the picture. But what you did is gorgeous. Love how you did the the glow of the moon from very white to dark blue, very striking. And for all your embellishments - you are so creative with the fish net, sea shells and anchor - love it all. This is what makes your cards, it little details like this - fabulous card Leslie, you are such a wonderful inspiration to the crafting world. Have a happy day as well!

Stunning Glowing moon for your silhouette stamped sail boat with just a tiny bit of color, Leslie. I loved your colored water and white waves. Wonderful choice of sentiment. Your corner embellishments sure added to your beach scene. How fun to use all your NBUS stamp images too. TFS

I have been stamping more too with all our cold wet weather keeping me in the house:-) Hugs I have been loving all your new card!

I agree with the other comments - this card is absolutely stunning! I love your take on the moon - either way it would look great. I know what you mean about stamping. WE have been outside enjoying the weather and not a thought of stamping. But rain/snow is coming in so I will get to it and finish up my St. Patrick's Day treat.

I would say you did a fabulous job making it into a silhouette but I can't imagine you going wrong with whatever way you chose to go with this. Gorgeous moon lit scene and great sentiment to go with it and plus that they were both from unused goodies, not to mention the way you used those dies is just the perfect accent to bring to your card, just wonderful!! I love how you add the shells to the picture to go along with your card, I need to try that with my cards, great inspiration all around!

I like a lot the die cut accents you added to this, Leslie, and what a genius idea to make a moon from this stamp! I don't know that I might've thought to do that! It looks beautiful and calm.

Wow, I love this card!! The mood the full moon rising provides is beautiful. We see sunshine on the water many times, and... it's equally pretty, but in my humble opinion, this stamp called for exactly what you did with it. The sentiment and embellishments were the cherry on top of this wonderful design.

What a gorgeous and dramatic card, Leslie! I'm with Susie Lessard in saying that you colored this to perfection and just what it should be. I love the moonlit sky, and it reminds me of what we see sometimes off our beach here. And the die you've used is fabulous inside and outside. Stunning!! Hugs!
