To kick off the celebration we're asking for anything birthday or anniversary-themed using the inspiration board as a guide.
Visit the Double D Blog to see prizes.
Many of my Double D teamies are offering prizes today, so be sure and visit everyone to see their stipulations.
All our participants have made this a very successful and fun challenge for us. Of course, Diane and Darlene, the Double D originators/administrators, deserve tons of credit and thanks and love. After all, they're the ones who provide us with fabulous inspiration boards such as this:
Cute stuff there! I especially love the birthday cake and I had a whole card made up with a starry cupcake and striped candles, all in colors matching the cake in the inspiration board... and then I made a hideous card with it. Seriously. Hideous. I was so disappointed I didn't want to start all over with the cupcake so I went in an entirely different direction.
I was happy to have finally gotten the kick in the pants I needed to color this very detailed and, oh, so pretty butterfly from my Penny Black "Touch of Whimsy" set.
I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copics. Stamped several smaller images from the set, as well, but didn't want it to look too busy so I used them sparingly and left a lot of white.
Finished with ribbon and a Tutti Designs Butterfly Strip. The Butterfly Strip was cut in white and colored with a B02 Copic marker.
READY FOR A PRIZE NOW?
Since it's a birthday party, I have a cute little birthday mini-stamp set and a perky pad of paper which I thought coordinated nicely with it.
I'm sharing the love with our Double D challenge participants. At the end of our current birthday/anniversary challenge I'll let Random.org select a winner from among everyone who plays along.
I hope you can join us. Have fun!
Also sharing at The House that Stamps Built "Things with Wings" challenge. Thank you!

The colors are vibrant and gorgeous. The soft blue outline on the designs pops them up!
This card literally made me smile this morning. I'm sitting here and it's 16 degrees outside and your card makes me think of sunshine and warm breezes. Well done!

love the colorful butterfly. Have a great day and Happy New Year.
Beautiful card. Love the butterfly!
Aw, Leslie, I bet any one of us would like to win your "hideous" card! It's probably beautiful in our eyes. Just like this one is! I am a huge lover of anything with butterflies, so all the colorful details ( and HOT pink!) make this a winner for sure. Thanks for the chance to win the goodies, too.
OH Leslie!! there is no way you could ever make a "hideous" card, NO WAY, EVER!!!
And I'm so ready for cards with lots of beautiful, Spring colors!! Especially now, that we are in a deep freeze up here in Crown Point, IN.
Your card just makes me smile, this butterfly is gorgeous, colorful and happy.
Thank you for sharing.
Hugs,
Maria Rodriguez.
I can't imagine anything you've done as being "seriously hideous". When this card popped up in my email I gasped! WOW! Do I love this, Leslie! You really went for it and I'm lovin' it! It pops off the page with happy! And the beautiful coloring is just we all need right now. I wanted to go upstairs to work today, but... if you can believe it - we are getting snow and ice in the low country today and tonight. The weather is so dangerous here. Southern folks don't know how to drive in this stuff. Spending the day staying warm and dry.
I was so happy to see your card today - made me foget about the frigid temps we are having now. It made me think of spring and the wonderful colors! I love your coloring. It's such a happy card! I find it hard to believe that you made a hideous card, but glad for the butterfly!
This is so pretty, Leslie! A really bright and happy card! Your coloring is beautiful. I am so happy to be one of your teamies at the DD!
Happy birthday to Double D!! Your card as always is absolutely gorgeous. Love the rich colors and the beautiful butterfly image. You know how I am about butterflies. Love that butterfly die also. Sure to bring a smile to someone's face. I can't believe that you would make a hideous card, but we're always our own worst critics.
Your butterfly is gorgeous. Lucky is the person who receives this card! Have a wonderful year, Leslie.
I agree you could not make a hideous card, but I also know that it was hideous to you. Been there done that. It is usually when I know exactly what I want but the design does not cooperate. I do better when I let the design do its own thing. sometimes I hold my hideous ones from the bin to see if I feel differently about it later.... I usually don't. You new card is so much fun. I love how easily you combine stamping and dies to create such beautiful cards.
Sorry your first card didn't come out the way you wanted it but I can't hardly believe you can make a bad card!!
I love the fun stamp and you did an excellent job with coloring it in and like the little stamping all around it too! Sweet butterfly border die too, Lovely design!
Congrats to 2 years DD and your contribution to the celebration as DT is so amazing! I like the bright colours and LO of the card. I follow your at Pinterest and like your creations so much.

Such a stunning and special card for the Double D celebration Leslie. I so love your choice of colors for the butterfly - so crisp and absolutely beautiful. It is such an honor to work with you at Double D Challenges - I have learn so much from you the past 2 years. Thank you for the most beautiful Christmas card I received from you. The postman and I was so thrilled to see this envelope from so far away. The card is jaw-dropping and I appreciate it so much.
I really LOVE this card. All the bright colors and pretty butterfly. It looks like it was really fun to do. And your design is just wonderful with that die cut border. It's so cheery and happy, great take on the challenge!
This is beautiful! Love that gorgeous image and the bright, happy colors you used! Thanks for playing with The House That Stamps Built.
I love that butterfly! The colors used are just so pretty and the fact that you shaded and blended the colors just takes it to a whole new level of loveliness. Love it all!
Wow, such amazing colouring on that gorgeous butterfly and flowers! So bright and happy! Love the butterfly border, too!
YOur butterflies are so gorgeously colored!!!! So festive and loved that blue shadow!! It matches EXACTLY the mood board!! I colored flowers too and added an die frame! I added ribbon too!! Super stoked that you designers are going to have giveaways too!! Thank you so much!! Inspiration AND giveaway!! Wow!!
This is so gorgeous. I may have to find me some flowers too as you are inspiring me to make a birthday card on that theme.
The way you've colored this is just lovely!! I love all the details and cheerful feeling one gets just from looking at this pretty card! Thanks too for the great giveaway - who doesn't like Echo Park paper? It's very generous of you :)
This is stunning, beautiful coloring, it is so uplifting with your cheery colors. So glad you joined us at challenge at The House That Stamps Built!
I doubt very much that you could make anything hideous, Leslie! I just refuse to believe it! But if it made you turn to this creation, we are the winners, because this design is light and fresh and beautifully colored! I'm WOWed and inspired!! Congratulations on DD's 4th birthaversary! (Please leave me out of your draw if my number comes up. I'd rather your generous prize go to someone who doesn't have so.much.schtuff, lol!) Happy New Year Hugs! Darnell
Glad to see that someone took inspiration from the butterflies on the board. Your creation is super inspiring and fabulous.
your card is amazing - I like the butterfly and the butterfly cut very much - nice work! Thanks for sharing and Happy ANniversary!
Well, a belated Happy New Year (and also Christmas)! Life has been hectic, but I am hoping to start the new year fresh and visit more of just my favorite bloggers...of course, you are one!! I absolutely love this whimsical butterfly and your amazing coloring! I would never have thought to purchase this set, but the butterfly is the "hit" in it IMHO. Wow, I love your colors, and what a beautiful butterfly die for the border! Happy anniversary to Double D! Warm hugs and love! xoxo
So pretty, Leslie. Love the coloring (of course!) and the butterfly border is perfect.
Love the gorgeous bright butterfly Leslie and a fabulou card it is to celebrate our two years of challenges...great border too.xx[aNNie]
Leslie this is fresh and sweet. The butterfly die cut is a great accent with the butterfly image. Colorful and sweet!
This is such a pretty card! Love the cheerful colors and your coloring is amazing!!! Followed you by email :)
Ah, they don't all turn out as we picture them. I've had to pitch some cards, especially after confirming with one of my 'critics' that live in my house. If they say no, then I get rid of the card completely. LOL
Love your re-do, though! Those butterflies are so whimsical. As always, you're a master colorer. Like a master gardener, but with a paper garden!
Once again, your colored piece looks like a print...and I mean that as a compliment to the detail of your coloring! This is a darling card!
Amazing how you've coloured the image, just gorgeous!
Thanks for offering a prize too.
Valerija xx
Hey Teamie! First of all I think you're lying--you don't do 'hideous' EVER! But this card is seriously gorgeous! I adore your beautiful butterflies, die cut and colored--they are AMAZING! Such fun and fabulous colors! WOW!
Wow, gorgious and what did you used beautiful colours. Love it!
Hugs, Petra
Wow! It is such a beautiful card. You must display your work, it is worth showing to the world. There is an exhibition in LA venue next month and a lot of people take up the stalls for showing their hand-crafted works. I think you must also do this, in order to increase the sale and popularity.
