Birds and Flowers and Happy New Year!

Hello, friends, and happy 2018!  Are you ready for a fresh start?  I generally feel super charged at the beginning of a new year.  However, I'm off to a slow start in terms of stamping.  I'm reading similar stories on many of the blogs I visit, so at least I'm not alone.  It will get better eventually.

Today I have two birthday cards I made in the middle of the busy Christmas season, so I was happy to have everything I needed to keep them simple, but pretty.  The die is Tutti Bird Tapestry, which is retiring, but I'll always think it's the prettiest thing.  You know how I feel about birds and flowers, sigh...

In the photo below you can get a better look at the alcohol-inks-on-acetate background behind the die.  Playing with alcohol inks is on my 2018 to-do list, but these backgrounds were made for me by my friend, Nancy.  The Bird Tapestry die cuts were shared by my friend, Sherri.  See what lovely friends I have?  Thanks girls!

The second card has a more subtle background, but still very pretty.  I like warm colors.

Moving right along...  I will be here Wednesday with the Double D Challenge.  Wishing you all a happy new year!

Happy New Year, Leslie!
Love your cards, yes, birds and flowers are terrific together. With this cold spell, I'm watching lots of birds at our feeders.
Beautiful backgrounds, love the cheery yellow.

Beautiful cards, Leslie! I love the alcohol inked backgrounds! Too much food and too much holidaying (is that a word?) is definitely getting in the way of my stamping mojo. Hoping to be reinvigorated in the new year.

Happy New Year Leslie! Yes you are not alone but it will get better as you said. Some years are like that, mine is a mix I think. I want to stamp and have a little but distracted by other things. Anyways... I think these turned out great. The color coming through the die cut looks wonderful and so very pretty. Hugs the fur babies for me and say Happy New year. :-)

Happy New Year to you Leslie! Well I must say, I'm with you - anything flowers or bird related I love. Yours cards at stunning! I love the alcohol inked backgrounds. And the 'a cheery hello" always makes me smile. It is so cold here, temps today, (-23C or -9F) although the sun is out, might bundle up and go for a quick walk just to get fresh air, and to wear off some of that holiday eating! Just made some chicken chili in my new "instant pot" for lunches this week, can't wait to try it. Have a wonderful day. Looking forward to your Wed post.

Happy New Year, Leslie! I'm off to a slow start too. Our entire household has been down for a month with a cold and cough - ugh! Love these trendy cards! Alcohol inks are so much fun to work with and provide so many opportunities for designs. Both designs remind me of the beautiful Mexican tin designs that incorporate birds, scrolls, flowers and bright colors. Beautiful cards - hmm, are you sure you're having a slow start to the new year? (she smiles).

Your birthday cards are beautiful in both color variations, Leslie, and such a delicate feel to each one! Your AI backgrounds are beautifully used. FANTASTIC design tip, as I have lots of backgrounds just waiting to be used, and never thought of using them with peek-a-boo dies! Thanks for sharing that easy crafty information. Seems like Tutti just came on the market, and already they are retiring some of their dies - things sure move quickly these days! I'm definitely in my slow slow SLOW mode - trying to keep ahead of this flare - but I finally decided last week to stop fighting and just go with the flow. LOL Sometimes I don't know when to embrace, and when to fight. Wishing you all the best in 2018, my friend! xx

I love looking at these cards! They are so cheerful and colorful. I love the die - too bad it's retiring! We are having such cold weather that it is hard to get moving. Definitely not use to this cold! Wishing you and your family a Happy 2018!

Very cheerful cards with those pretty colors in the background and nice and flat for mailing, too!! Here is wishing your a fabulous New Year with nothing but good things to come!! I hope it brings you lots of camping time with your fur-babies and new sites to see!! My fur baby is certainly a challenge, is a bit aggressive and seems to want to be in charge...ugh...I am working on him though. He pulls none of these antics with my husband....but pushes me hard...but I love him dearly and won't give up. He is growing FAST, too and am hoping he wont overpower me....he goes for his last shots tomorrow and I think I will sign him up for puppy classes there. Anywho...have a wonderful day!!
