His and Hers Art Impressions Birthdays

Hi, there, stamping friends!  I have two birthday cards today which I made in early July (maybe late June?).  I can't believe that much time went by before I'm posting them.  But then, I can't believe how we're nearing the end of summer and it's almost time for fall cards.  I won't give up summer that easily, though.  We're just getting started!

Both cards are Art Impressions colored with Copics.  The first is Gordon Golfer for a golfing guy friend who did get a hole in one at the country club and has a plaque to prove it.  He'll tell you a humble story about how it was a stroke of luck, but he's actually a very good golfer.

Where are Gordon's eyes?  I forgot to leave whites for the eyes, so Gordon has little beady eyes.  I don't know how he sees to golf with those tiny peepers.  When I was a kid I wondered if people with tiny eyes could see as well as people with large eyes.

Gordon Golfer uses some Bo Bunny Camp-a-Lot designer paper and the following dies:

  • Poppystamps Stitched Landscapes
  • Sizzix Primitive Stars
  • Sue Wilson Pierced Flags

The next card is an AI stamp set called "Fire Out".  Made it for a girlfriend who said she laughed all day over it.  That's a good thing.

This one is very simple.  I hand cut the speech bubble.  The presents are part of a full-card-length Die-namites die called "Presents Border".  I didn't need the whole border, but it's a very cute not-yet-used die which I've been wanting to use, so with a little a lot of snipping I finally used it.  There are more presents decorating the inside of the card.

I hope you're all having a good summer.  A lot of places are too hot to be outside.  I couldn't bear it.  Our temps have been in the mid to upper 70s and 80s this week.  A warm air current is bringing in smoke from wildfires all the way up in Washington state and the mountains east of us.  No fires near us, just a smoky haze.  All these fires every year... I wonder how we have any forest left.  It's so distressing.  Take care, and I hope you're able to stay cool where you are.

I have a fondness for cute and fun cards like these, I think anytime a card can make you laugh it's going to be a great day! The sentiment one on the golfer is just too funny!! I love all the stars you have used, just makes for a perfect card! The second card, well heck, I will need that fire extinguisher this year..hah!! Both are fabulous! It has been hot and sticky here, but storms today and them a BIG cool down to 68 on Friday...only in Michigan I tell you!!

Oh, how fun, Leslie! Your friends will love them, for sure. Congrats to your friend for his hole-in-one! What an accomplishment. Sorry about your hot weather and the smoke. But, at least you have something fun to do while trapped in your house! LOL!

I'm sure that people who receive your cards turn the cards over to see which company made them! They are so carefully crafted and colored so beautifully. I love Art Impressions--wish they had the sarcastic ones the artist used to make; I have a couple of them. I think there was a parting of the ways in the art department along the way. As for heat, we have had a month of 95+ degrees, which is three weeks longer than usual. It's not over yet because I just looked at the 10-day forecast. I know that the west side does NOT expect this kind of heat, and I hope you get some relief soon. One thing about this corner of the state,it cools off around 10 at night, so is bearable. (The smoke showed up yesterday!)

Two really cute cards. I really like how you used the two papers in the guy card and that sentiment is a hoot. These cards will make the recipients smile.

Hi, Leslie! I'm sorry to hear the haze and smoke is all the way to your house - it means keeping windows closed. Your temperatures sound heavenly though! We keep our AC at 79 degrees, if that gives you an inkling of how "cool" that feels to us. Can't believe it is August already! So fast, but our hottest months are yet to come.

LOVE your cards. Actually, I thought the golfer's eyes were done the way they should have been. If you put white in there, he would have looked like a Cyclops with something in his eye! LOL Like you, Beady eyes - I wondered if people whose eyes did not open as wide as mine, saw less. Isn't that funny to think those things as children? But it is child logic for sure.

Your colors on both cards are great! My favorite part is the star theme on the golfer's card. How fabulous is that! And the extra socks! YEPPER, that would tickle us right out of our shoes and socks, wouldn't it? Love both cards, though, and your trademark awesome coloring.

My flowers are about beat down. I hate having to prune the Pentas because the butterflies love them, but the need to "start over". The caladiums are about beat down with the exception of the plants in the lanai. Even the plants feel the heat! Wishing you a great week-end, although, now that you are retired, it doesn't really mean much anymore, does it? xx

I love these cards - they made me laugh so much!! I'm sure your friend appreciated the hole in one!! We are having the hot weather here plus the rain and humidity - UHG!! I love summer but not this hot. A friend emailed about my post regarding the Wonderous Wreath card and said to use versa mark first and then the color over it and I should have problems. Haven't tried it yet as I'm making goodies for Joe's birthday but we will see if it helps. She said she found it on Stampin Ups website.

Oh my Leslie these are just too cute, I love the fun sayings that go along with them too. That's great you found a way to use the present die border. Isn't it funny the things we think about as kids :)

Both of your cards are so cute! If I'm picking, I really took to the second one! I actually laughed out loud this early morning. Anyone passing my window would think that old lady has gone off her rocker! Hope you are doing well...I'm puttering right along here as the temps are very warm but it will begin to cool down soon!

These are both hysterical! LOVE the "fire out" card and may have to invest in that stamp! I'm still laughing! I have the first stamp but have never made a card with it that is as awesome as yours! You are still the queen of coloring & design....in ANY medium!

Oh my, love both of these Leslie, both make me smile! Both are fabulously designed, love all your details on both, and love the 'bubble' speech you created. I've never thought of making my own - great idea. Sorry to hear about the smoke out your way. We are having much cooler weather this week, only in the mid 70's compared to 100 degrees last week. Have an awesome day, and thanks again for making me smile with your beautiful creations!

Oh, Leslie, these are both so funny and fabulous! I love the golfer guy and the wonderful DP and layout! And what a hoot that gal is. I know a few people who would really laugh at that card myself. I might have to get that stamp set. It's hilarious! I sure hope you have clear skies soon. It is heartbreaking to see how many people have died and have lost so much in the fires. And it's so sad to see the forests devastated so. I hope you continue to enjoy cooler weather. Hugs! xoxo
