Prairie Cheer Coneflower

Hello!  Ready for a new week?  I'm hoping this week will be a little more productive stamping-wise as I sure do have a lot of stamps and digis I'd like to color.  As I was going about my business the other day -- household and garden chores 'n stuff -- I was wondering if I'd be quite so cheerful about my day if I didn't have my stamping/coloring time to look forward to.  Maybe everyone doesn't have a need to be crafty, but I can't imagine life without it.  How about you?

Anyway...  today's card was made specifically for a friend who wants all the get well and sympathy cards I can possibly make for her.  I recently gave her a batch, so now it's time to start on more.  I like to provide her with some variety, and this time I created something feminine.

I used Power Poppy's Prairie Cheer clear stamp set and watercolored the flower with Tombow markers.  The center die cut layer was edged with a Krylon gold leafing pen, but I'm not entirely happy with the outcome.  Thankfully, I was able to cover up some of my mess with the green oval die cut.

The flower petals in the green die cut would pop out, but I left them in place and painted with gold Gansai Tambi watercolor.  I just love how that set includes some shimmery metallic paints.  I'm spreading the love around all the coloring mediums in my stamp room, hence the Tombows today.

The Divine Eloquence die was cut in white and sponged with plum inks, darker at the bottom.  Layered that on vanilla cardstock and trimmed the edges flush.  Wrapped in organdy ribbon and tied a bow, which used the last of that spool (yay!).  However, I have another whole spool of this particular ribbon.  It's one of those go-with-everything ribbons, and I like organdy for its see-through aspect.  I'm totally dedicated to using up the vast collection which remains after my recent ribbon purge.

I'll wrap this up with a list of supplies at the end.  I hope we can get together again soon.  Take care!

So pretty Leslie! Beautifully crafted as always ... I don't always make a card each day but I have to be creative in someway, like baking or sewing... sometimes just visiting blogs and enjoying the creative talent each day.
Enjoy your week my friend!

Stunning! Leslie as Ros mentioned above, beautifully crafted as always. I love how you sponged the plum inks on your frame, and then your butterfly frame overlay - wow gorgeous especially with that little bit of gold on the flowers and then of course not to mention your beautiful water coloured cone flower! Your friend will be thrilled to receive this in her package. Yes, I"m with you I can't image my life without some sort of crafts. I have had my hand in many different types, but I really like the card making. There is just something calming about colouring and then when it all comes together it's that 'happy' feeling to see your finished product.
Thanks for sharing your card today. Have a wonderful day!

This is just so, so, so beautiful, Leslie!! I love the flower!! Your friend is so lucky to get your cards, and you are lucky to have an outlet for them! I also really like the way you added the plum color to the die - getting darker towards the bottom. You are one talented lady, for sure!

BEAUTIFUL and what a lovely, unique design! Your friend will love it! As you know, I'm in my crafting cave just about EVERY DAY and NO! I can't imagine what I'd do with my time if I didn't craft ... it gives me such satisfaction! Of course, my house would be a lot cleaner! LOL But that's okay ... I give it a good goin' over when I know I have visitors coming! LOL Thanks for some awesome inspiration with this piece Leslie ... great job!

Oh, this is SO gorgeous! I don't know what I love more...the gorgeous watercolor flower or the way you put it all together with those beautiful dies you have sponged! You always have the most amazing designs & each of them is perfection! I have the same love of crafting you do. I'm afraid it is an obsession. Crafting is my "happy place" and I can't go more than a day without doing it or I get really depressed. There is something so fulfilling about putting something together with your own imagination that you just can't get doing anything else.

Beautiful coloring on that cone flower and I love how you layered the dies, and the ribbon is the perfect finishing touch.

Beautiful, pretty colors together, and pretty ribbon, too, you have a nice collection of dies!! I have to admit, my crafty room is kind of my 'life', but there are days I am ready to get rid of it all...(but I never ever will, just some days I look around and think holy moly what was I thinking..lol). I have a nice size room to work in, and half is set up for paper crafting and the other half for sewing, which I rarely do anymore. I really need to do what you have done is to 'purge' some things, as I am a slightly hoarder of things that involve paper crafting!

Wow that is just gorgeous, I love the dies you used together to frame the beautifully colored flower and the pretty way you colored the frames too, that ribbon is perfect with it, I used Ribbon in the card I made last night too, trying to put a dent in my collection :)
I so agree with you, my cardmaking time is after Greg goes to work in the afternoon and I so look forward to that time to play :)

Leslie, this is so beautiful!!! I love what you did with this prairie flower, adorned with frilly dies and the metallic gold paint!! I can't do the gold pen framing well...there must be a trick...but yours looks great! I'm glad to hear of Wally's recovery, he is the sweetest!!

I don't know how others live without a hobby or two or ten, either, Leslie! I need that expressiveness and release.... and also enjoy seeing my friends express themselves as well! Your get well creation is bound to perk up the recipient! Delicate, graceful, soft peaceful colors, and beautiful! Hugs, de
