Welcome back! I can barely navigate my stamp room, seeing as how it's a wreck from the re-do, but I was so intrigued by Marcella's "Coloring Outside the Lines" challenge at Power Poppy I had to do something. So I cleared a 6" space, stamped on a panel that was already cut to size, then sat down in the dining room with 5 Copics for coloring. I used the Prairie Cheer clear stamp set with Asters and the wise words of a master wordsmith.
I emphasize the "Coloring Outside the Lines". It's the only way I could eke out the time to get a card done and, gosh, is it ever some quick coloring! A single haphazard stroke of B23 in the general vicinity of each petal, followed by a shorter stroke of B26. The green is G20 and YG95, though I needn't have bothered with the G20, I guess.
The paper is scraps of old Chatterbox which was left laying out after I organized my designer papers. I did the cutting on the floor and stitched at my sewing machine out in the hallway. That's when you know you've got it bad if you'll go to such lengths just to do a little stamping.
Oh, and you know I'm all about using up the ribbon since I purged and reorganized, so that wad of fluff you see is actually a bow. It was not easy to tie with all that fuzz going every which way. Remember fun fibers? I decided to keep them. These, perhaps, are not technically ribbon, but I'm lumping all trims into that category.
Do you see where I colored outside the lines? Funny how I ordinarily try so hard to stay within the lines, yet when I allowed myself the freedom to color outside the lines I had to make a conscious effort to do so.
Have a good weekend!

Leslie, it does my heart good seeing your art regularly again. The colors and Life shown in each creation really do make my heart happier and inspire me to enjoy the beauty all over. We're so blessed to live in areas where Nature abounds, aren't we?
The colors in this Creation are so unexpected, and look fabulous together! I like the eyelash fibers, and that beautiful sentiment, but more than anything, I'm excited to see your out-of-the-lines coloring! It's a new style for you, yes? SUPPOSEDLY they say that the out-of-the-lines coloring style is the new modern or contemporary style - so you're right up there with the national trend makers!
Pretty stitching on your madras - I recall when that was the rage! LOL And now you are on top of things again! Thanks for sharing your Beauty. Hoping your week-end is quite enjoyable... and very pretty, too! xo
This is so awesome!! I use to have so many fibers but got rid of most of them because I simply always forgot to use them, fun to see you use some on this great card! Love it!!
Your card is gorgeous! Nothing like being free with your coloring and allowing yourself to step outside the box and color outside the lines! I love the colors you chose and that fiber is awesome! Hope you have a great weekend!
I love it, Leslie! Such a cool coloring technique. I'm glad you were able to find a place to create:) Good luck with the rest of your re-do.
very nice. Have a great day
GIRL ... you are amazing and this creation proves it! Love your 'outside the lines' coloring and that fiber is the PERFECT addition ... love the bold color! Hope you have a fabulous weekend!
It makes no difference whether you color inside the lines or outside the lines you always come up with a gorgeous card ! You have that magic eye for perfection and know just where to place your strokes for maximum "WOW" power ! This is just beautiful beyond words! And I love the touch of fiber! I still have a ton of that in every color of the rainbow and may have to drag it back out now .
Stunning! I love how you did color outside the box and kind of wiped your brush outside the flowers at the top giving it a great background look. I've saved all my fibers too. Need to give them some use one of these days.
That is the most beautiful blue ever! And it suits those flowers perfectly. I also LOVE that fiber; I used to use fiber a lot.
Oh, Leslie, what a fun story about how you made this in the MIDST of your reorganizing - how brave and funny! I can almost imagine it, especially since you seem to me (anyway) to be very neat and organized. But I digress. I LOVE the coloring, and Donna is right about how coloring outside the lines is so popular, and even so many of the stamps (old and new) have been the stepped stamps that don't always line up on purpose. But I really love the carefree coloring and the beautiful layout. And the DP is beautiful and perfect with it. What a giggle when I read about the eyelash fiber...I have some too yet and cannot seem to get rid of it. Haha! Beautifully done, and I always love stitching, and now I have an image of your sewing in the hall! Haha! I love it all, and thanks for the laugh. Love it and love your cards, and I hope the reorganization gets done soon! Hugs!
Love this card Leslie! gorgeous flowers and that colour blue is beautiful, perfect whether inside or outside the lines, love the fibers and papers.
Pam
I just LOVE your outside the lines technique Leslie. So beautiful! You blow me away!
Leslie, your creative eye is always so inspiring! Love how you freely colored this image! And your layout, paper and embellishments really adds delight to the eye! Gorgeous!
I guess we could say speed matters, because this is just gorgeous all over the place!
Oh my goodness I just had to laugh reading about what lengths you went to, to make this card, and it was worth it, the card is just Beautiful, and look how great you color even when you are trying not to. I think this stamp is just perfect for this technique and I love your fluffy bow, I have a bunch of that kind of trim and never know how to use it. Great quote to top it off!
This is beautiful, Leslie!!! Your "outside of the lines" looks so natural!
A very lovely card, Leslie! Your delightful coloring suits the stamped image perfectly! So glad you went to so much effort all over your house to make this card!!
I had to put my nose 3" from the screen to see where you colored out of the lines! I can't tell you how pretty this card is. The blues and the plaid just lure me in. Absolutely lovely. I can relate to crafting in a 6" space, although my craft room is nice and neat at the moment. I too am going to purge, just waiting for some organization supplies to come.
Beautiful card, and your coloring outside the lines looks so natural. The blue colors are so pretty and calming...a gorgeous card...(I color outside the lines, but not on purpose...darn it, just these 'old' eyes 'ain't' what they used to be..lol)!
Love this Leslie! Your 'outside the lines' colouring is so perfect. I think you are a naturalist at this technique. The plaid paper is perfect, love the layout and the eyelash fibers ( I have some of this too and never think to use it). Thanks for taking the time to design and share a card with us during your renovations - now that's one dedicated stamper! Have a wonderful week.
Gorgeous card Leslie! Love the attractive color patterns! My apologies for not commenting lately but please know I do keep up w/your work via email. You're one amazingly talented artist!
This is so bright and cheerful...and to think you could achieve that look with just a few strokes of markers, Leslie...pretty amazing!! I really love your pattern paper pick for this one, and the fun fiber is a pretty touch!!
Oh I adore the fluffed up ribbon fibers, gives its a quick smile I say. The blues are awesome and great job outside the lines. So pretty Leslie and looks awesome.
Simply fantastic! I love the fluffy fibers. Wonderful. Cheers.
Oh it's gorgeous!! Love the blue and I really struggle to stay in the lines so maybe I'll try this!
