Nordic Deer

Hi friends!  The sun is finally shining (though a little cold and breezy), a few flowers are blooming, and in the middle of all that I made a Christmas card.  Well, gee, it's high time I started on some of the new Christmas things I collected before, during, and after the previous holiday season.  My motivation comes from the Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge which I'm getting into just in time.

Today's card is all Spellbinders, from one of their amazing warehouse sales (last December?) -- Magical Deer, Tinsel Time Sentiments, Ski Lodge embossing folder.  The long rectangle is Spellbinders, too, but much older.  I love how it works with slimlines.  This one is 3 1/2 x 6.  I moved the focal panel off to the side so more of the embossing would show.

There was a lot of "getting acquainted" time during this crafty session.  The Tinsel Time Sentiments, for instance...  as it turns out, those letters are way too skinny for my patience.  It was easiest for me to nest the word and the shadow dies, and cut in white to result in a negative.  Then I cut the shadow again in red and layered the two.  I like the effect of the inset letters.

Peace on Earth Challenge #61 -- I was particularly inspired by the deer in the upper right corner of the board.
NBUS Challenge #61 -- My never before used schtuff is deer, sentiment, embossing folder.

That's all for this crafty week.  I'll see you again soon.  Take good care of yourselves and enjoy each day as it comes.

Cute, cute, CUTE Leslie! I love that embossing folder and great idea to put your focal image off center to show more of the background! And of course that deer with his fancy antlers is stealing the show here and is magnificent! Awesome card my friend!! Hugs. :0)

I would think he will make it onto several cards this year as he is so handsome. That embossing folder makes a brilliant background. Some of the Spellbinder sales are so hard to resist. I am struggling to ignore the one that is on at the moment! xx

Oh, this handsome buck is a perfect stand-in for that pretty deer in the inspiration photo, Leslie! What majestic antlers he has!
Those small, layered sentiment dies can be a trial - but you pull it off in the best way possible! AND it was such a smart move to let that embossing peek out there - so stunning!

This is such a beautiful Scandi deer die, Leslie. I love how you pieced it, inlaid the sediment, and offset the panel to show off that great e/f! (I've 📌 it to the I.D.E.A.S. board and thank you for linking again to NBUS! And I have to watch for the next Spellbinders warehouse sales!)

I really enjoyed this visit! I didn't realize how much I've missed in the last ten days and I really loved catching up with your makes and the delightful Sophie posts! It's clear she is a heart-healer! Hugs, Darnell

Love the colors you chose for that Nordic Deer. He really is a noble one. And that's the best way to use those single little letters! Sometimes I forget that.

Oh deer, how beautiful is your card! The colours of all your pieces of the deer really compliment each other, and love how you did the sentiment! Beautiful embossed background, and love that you offset the image. Another amazing card Leslie, nice to add another one to your Christmas stash! TFS! Have a wonderful day. Hugs,

Oh he is a beauty for sure, I was eyeing him but went with some stitching dies instead, that I still haven't used. I love the colors you used for it, and pretty embossing to go with his style!
