Valentine Pups

Hello at last!  It's Valentine month so I set everything aside and got started.  Much as I'd like to focus on one project at a time, I do have four separate projects currently in the works.  Really, I'm not that scatter brained.  Tell me, does this happen to you?

  • Shortly after Christmas I started a batch of four Christmas cards and have been working on them a little at a time between other projects.
  • I made a background for a Valentine, but decided it would be pretty for a Christmas card, so it's set aside with parts for the making.
  • I printed up four digis to color a gift set for a friend.  Made one card, but realized the rest would have to get in line with more pressing card needs.
  • I suddenly had the strongest urge to play with layouts and designer papers so I got started on that with some old papers that need to be used up.

All projects are in neat little piles,  waiting to be finished, but first -- Valentines!

I only have one sweetie and one child, but Valentines are too fun to make only two.  These will go to friends.  Valentine parties in grade school were my favorite.  All those cute little cards!  I think I was destined to be a card maker.

I used a Bugaboo set called Valentine Pup.  Copic coloring, a few die cuts, a bit of patterned paper.  There are Nuvo glitter drops on the first card.  The second card has an embossed paw prints base, smooshed with white ink.  Simple, but cute.

When I was making these cards I realized for the first time I could snap the nozzle off my Nuvo drops.  I honestly did not know that.  Just push the nozzle to the side and it comes right off.  I thought my Nuvo drops were doomed as they were all plugged up after only a few uses.  Now I take off the nozzle and rinse after each use.  So happy!  I might need more Nuvo drops now...

I'm glad we could visit today.  It's been fun!  Now, back to making more Valentines.  Enjoy your day!

I'm afraid I usually have piles of "stuff" everywhere just waiting to be finished. My problem is when this happens I'm hard pressed to finish and sometimes it just doesn't happen. Both of your cards are just so cute. Love that little dog; what a cutie. I really need to get started on Valentines!

Leslie these are both so adorable! I love them both. The doggie is so cute. He reminds me of my son Mark's dog. I think I need this digi set. And yes I often have parts of cards on the go, sometimes as you work on one, something else comes to mind and it just goes on from there. Eventually I circle back to finish but it could take a while. I haven't started Valentine cards yet, I better get a move on. Sorry for rambling on, have an awesome day. Thanks for sharing, these made my day!

SQUEE! These are such cuties Leslie. I just adore that paper and how you used it on each card. That little pup steals the show doesn't he! I love the texture you added with the paw prints. So cute. Mwah! Oh I do miss those fun class Valentine parties. Remember when we would make our own mailbox for class?

Adorable, Leslie! These are both just squishably adorable and they will be loved! That plaid and puppies, aaah, be still my heart and, of course, your coloring leaves me weak in the knees every.single.time!

If you can have four projects going at a time, my hat goes off to you! I am so not built that way. I am a one-thing-at-a-time-don't-bother-me-until-I-finish-this type of personality. Whether it's cleaning out closets, painting the guest room, working on a jigsaw puzzle, or making cards. Lemme tell you, I could not make it in today's working world of multi-tasking and insta-gratification! Okay, I'd better scoot before this turns into a thesis on the Life and Times ... Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell

Oh my word ... these are both SO ADORABLE!! Well done Leslie! I don't do many Valentine's anymore (getting too old I guess lol) but I will have one for hubby of course.
Multiple projects ... hmmmm ... usually I do them one at a time. Periodically I'll have something set aside because I just happen to have a design in mind and will forget if I don't set at least part of it aside but all in all ... I'd say I'm a One At A Time gal.
Thanks for that tip on the Nuvo nozzle. Some of my darker colors are way too thick ... any ideas on what I might 'add' to thin it down a touch? Hugs & Happy day!

I agree, Leslie. Valentine cards are fun to make and to receive also. Yours should have the recipients grinning from ear to ear!

These pups are so dang CUTE and ADORABLE and love the plaid papers!! Anyone receiving these will be thrilled!! I love making Valentines and hope to not only make some with all my NBUS but to actually send a few out!!! I work on one thing at a time, heck I even have a hard time doing just that, but right now I have one sitting aside to dry and am working on the next, I have learned to be too impatient and let things sit...hard as right now I want to finish it lol! I pulled a few almost all used up paper pads to try and figure out what to do with them, from K&Company remember those?

What a cute puppy! I love your valentines. I usually have things out on my table to work with, but I really don't have piles of projects - just ideas.

These cards are so cute! I like that you didn't use red. These little fellows are adorable. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. I have been going back and forth on some projects as well and then realized that I needed some cards as well. These special days kind of sneak up on us!

I will probably only manage two valentines. I do sometimes have a couple projects going if they need to dry on their own I will work on something else while the other is drying, but other than that it is just one project at a time :) These are just too cute, love the sentiment die cut from patterned paper and I never knew about the Nuvo top coming off, good to know if I have a problem :) Both images are just too cute and I so love the paw print background on the second :)

Well that seems to be my problem all the time, half finished creations. Wonder why I have a good amount done so fast. Means I finished half the stuff I started a few weeks ago. ha ha!!! It's all good, just means that the creativity hasn't quite finished itself yet. At least that is what I tell myself, its probably more like life gets in the way. Anyways... Enough of my babbling. These are adorable. What a sweet little pup and totally cute Valentines. The love die cut in the designer paper is perfect. Adorable Leslie!

What a lot of adorableness! These are both so cute. I love the images your used. I had no idea about that with the Nuvo drops. I have some of those and now will need them more often. How do you keep all your projects in order?

Leslie, what a sweet and beautiful pair of cards, the colors and the papers are perfectly paired, those puppies are adorable.
I too have a few projects I need to tackle during the year, mostly are cards that were started but, for some weird reason, I changed my mind and went on an opposite direction.
I wish I could get an urge to play with pattern papers but I totally lack the vision to combine them in my cards, this is what gives me the most trouble.
I'm sorry to comment so late, I've been busy getting ready for my annual Super Bowl bash, it's been a hectic 7 days, finally the guys working on our master bath were done and now I can relax.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful cards, I always get so inspired by your amazing color combinations.
Big hugs,
Maria.

Oh my! These are ADORABLE!!I love the plaid, and those images are so cute. Your Nuvo drops look perfect. I'm still working on that, but I think I'm finally getting better at it. I made a bunch today, and I tried the "eyeball" ones. I'm anxious for them to dry!

Whaaat?! You say you can snap the tops off Nuvo drops?!! I had no idea *laughing* See, I always learn at your footstool, Leslie. I'm definitely going to look tomorrow. I love, love, love the plaid paper you used on this card - the colors caught my eye immediately. And no way are you a scatter brain. You're an experienced designer. But thanks for asking me if I ever feel like I'm juggling 4 balls at once -- YES! but it isn't cards *hahaha* I'm still dealing with the age old question, "what am I making for dinners this week" because I am feeding a family of 5! I get the question every afternoon, "Nana, what are you making for dinner tonight?" *hahaha* I love these pretty, colorful, Valentines. There are going to be some very happy recipients. P.s. Did you know you can create Nuvo eyeballs? Yep. Take a strip of wax paper and squeeze some white out, then a drop of black on top - let it dry, and scoop em' up.

Hi Leslie!
I'm ever so late in commenting on these adorable Valentines with the sweet pups. They are clever, cute and so fun! Love the plaid paper too, as so many others have said. I really did enjoy reading about your piles, and I am fascinated. I can't work on more than one card at once.

One advantage to being so behind in commenting: Susie's great tip about making eyes with Nuvo drops. I might have to give that a try!
