Hello there, and happy Monday!
My friend, Diane, inadvertently sent me on quite a creative journey when she posted this card for the Love Those Pretty Papers challenge. Diane gives a link to a video and tells her story, saying it was a learning experience. I'd say she's right about that. I cut some pieces wrong, and then couldn't properly line up the ones I cut right. However, I figured a way to fix my messes and piece together some different designs. In the process I used four sheets from a 2009 BasicGrey 6x6 pad, as well as two not-yet-used Tim Holtz Sizzix die sets -- Bloom, Colorize and Feathered Friends. I would not have thought of this paper/die combination, but one thing led to another. You know how that happens, don't you? I'll share in the order the cards were created.
In the first card I added a frame because my pieced papers came out with uneven edges. The two ivory center panels helped separate the focal flowers from the busy background.
After I made the flower for the first card I was not eager to make that flower with its tiny parts again, so I pulled out one of the TH birds and combined it with foliage from the flower set. I tried spacing the pieces as shown in the video, but ended up with too wide a space across the center of the card. That's when I added one of the scalloped edges I'd cut from the paper.
For the third card I used another of the Feathered Friends combined with foliage from the flower set. These patterned paper pieces were cut in the wrong direction (it's hard to explain) so I had to do a different design altogether. I taped them together on the backside to create diagonal rows. The prints don't line up, tsk tsk, but I'll live with that. I added the crimped border to the card front and trimmed the patterned piece to fit. This design is a little different, but it was Day 3 and maybe it's not so bad.
I was about to call it done, but I still had some pieces and I thought I really should have another go at the flowers. That's my self discipline and waste not/want not philosophy nagging at me in unison. It might be my favorite of the four. Maybe I was just glad to be done.
The insides are all finished with bits of the paper to decorate. Each card has Viva Cream Pearl Pen dots added. Some I tapped the backside of the card to flatten the dots, some are left half-round pearl shape.
After all that... I'll be sharing in three challenges:
A Cut Above -- Anything goes with die cuts.
NBUS Challenge #71 -- Never before used schtuff. That's my Tim Holtz Bloom, Colorize and Feathered Friends.
Thanks so much for bearing with me through all these cards and words. I will see you again soon (I hope). Take care and have a happy day!

These are all remarkably stunning!! I can't possibly pick a favorite as each one has a unique design. The flowers and birds simply pop off the black and white backgrounds. These are masterfully done Leslie, and so worth all the time and effort you put into making them. I have that same set of flowers and they are fiddly, but beautiful when finished.
These all came out absolutely BEAUTIFUL Leslie, but I think the math would have been more than my brain could handle and I'm not even sure how I would have fixed the not matching up! So instead I'll just enjoy all your beautiful work...they really are all STUNNING my friend!! Hugs. :0)
WOW that’s quite a creative journey. Personally I love them all. Love the birds, combination of black/white and the focal points of color. Have a great day
You might be sending me to my next crafty adventure, Leslie! OH. my. GOODNESS such gorgeousness!! That Basic Grey black and cream paper is so dreamy - I miss that company so very much - and now I really want those TH birds... you enabler, you! I'm seeing a Northern Flicker on your Just Because card!
Off I go to watch that video between the LOADS of [not so much] fun I'm having!
These might have just gone to the top of my favorites from you, my friend!

I oohed and aahed over each of these, Leslie! The way you colored the birds is so inspiring too.
Oh I love these. I am glad you persevered and ended up with so many. The black and white papers add lovely drama behind those gorgeous dies. All 4 are brilliant xx
OH MY!! You sure can't tell you had so many issues! Every card is just stunning! I do love to make cards with scraps, and honestly, it's some of my best work sometimes. Thank you for sharing such gorgeousness! Be well friend.
Oh boy! One would never know you had some crafting issues looking at these beautiful cards you made! Nothing is more beautiful than birds and flowers and you amazed me with beauties.
OH how nice you gave these a try and they turned out awesome, each and every one and I LOVE the elegant color choices and how you finished up each card. I smiled about your comment about the Colorize flower die, I have several myself (of course, right) and sometimes (most of the time) I get lost doing them! Each one is unique and gorgeous and perfection in my eyes, so glad you had fun giving it a go, it's always fun to try something new!! Thanks for the shout out too!!
Stunning collection of cards, Leslie. Each is unique in design and the images are colored beautifully. The colorized flowers and foliage are exquisite on the black/white/cream patterned paper. The frames are a great fix for the rough edges. There are no mistakes in crafting, right? I may have to investigate this video process and stress a little myself. Thanks for sharing at A Cut Above's February, "Anything Goes With A Die Cut" Challenge.
Well, I think all four of these are fantastic, Leslie! That paper is so pretty and works beautifully in each design! I understand the stress of getting all those little pieces added into the flowers but it's so worth the effort when done! And those birds are awesome! I love each arrangement and applaud you for sticking to it and creating so many gorgeous cards!
Each one is a fabulous as the next, Leslie! Gosh is that cream and black paper ever pretty. It flows so perfectly with all of your wonderful die cut elements. I'm loving that pretty little bird on your third card to bits! Well done my friend. Thanks for all of the eye candy!
Hi Leslie! I am so glad I stopped by for a quick visit..your cards just popped off the page with their beautiful colors and contrasts! I really adore all of them. I am still stamping, but rarely post. I have tried measurements for cards and my brain seems to stop functioning so I’ve decided to just do what I prefer and even then my cards take me forever. We are moving from Colorado to Oregon! It will be a big step for us since we’ve lived here for almost 30 years. We also got a puppy about the same time you did, another English Golden named Ava. I
I love them all! Very beautiful and no way could I ever pick a favorite! Well done!
These are gorgeous! I love the black and white with all the pop of colors! Thanks for playing along with A Cut Above.
Oh what pretty cards, Leslie! I love posies and birds, too, so each one touched me with those elegant backgrounds. Beautiful work, I'm pinning each one!

Leslie, I was so in love with Michele's take on this technique. Just spent way too long making my own card... somehow the measurements were a little off. I made it work, but took forever... Anyway, I came over to see yours. Oh my goodness, your cards are so gorgeous. So classy. Such beautiful art. Now I need those birds too. Love the way you changed your design after cutting in the wrong direction. I get it. Amazing work.
