Stamping and Coloring on Vellum

I spied a challenge that prompted a simple card.  It's Back to Basics and Beyond Stamping and Coloring on Vellum.  I was curious to see how one of my new Power Poppy stamps would look with this easiest-of-all coloring.  I used the clear set, Let Your Heart Be Light.

Stamped on vellum with Versamark ink, gold embossed, and colored on the backside with Copic markers.  No tricky shading on this one, although I think it could be possible to a certain degree.  Maybe next time.

I made a frame and adhered it to the vellum with 1/4" and 1/8" Scor-tape, which solved the problem of adhesive showing under the vellum.  Backed it up with white card stock and trimmed the outer edges flush.  Added the die cut sentiment and a die cut poinsettia.  The folded card measures 6 3/4" x 3 3/4".

Inside is a gold embossed sentiment:

I liked it with the simple, pristine white.  I considered colors, designer paper, a gold die cut poinsettia, and rejected all of them.  I will say that when one chooses all white at the outset, it makes finishing up the card a very quick process.  I'll list supplies below.

Here's that challenge again:  Back to Basics and Beyond Stamping and Coloring on Vellum

Thank you so much for dropping in during this busy season.  Happy holidays!

This is just lovely! Your gold embossing looks to smooth. When I do it, it seems to always look blotchy! Well done!

I love this card! Keeping it to all white just makes the color stand out even better! I've never tried vellum before but this beauty makes me want to try it! The gold embossing really makes it elegant! Awesome card, Leslie!!! Five stars for sure!!

There is something so elegant about gold embossing on white. Like fancy monogrammed dinner napkins! Your colored vellum image is perfect just as it is and brilliantly framed! Gosh I love this look, but I haven't colored on vellum since the cows came home. So much to play with, so little time! ❤Happy Holiday Hugs, Darnell

The Power Poppy image looks so different done in this technique, Leslie! Exquisite, and so elegant in the pretty traditional colors! I must congratulate you on perfectly adhering the die cut sentiment! WOW! Thanks for the tip about adhering the vellum, too!

So beautiful, Leslie! I love the all white! I don't know how you got such vibrant colors with your Copics on vellum. I've tried:(

The white is beautiful and elegant and the gold just puts it over the top! I like how the coloring behind the vellum came out! The detail of the stamp makes the colors pop. The die cut poinsettia adds the perfect touch. So lovely, Leslie!

Leslie, I too love using vellum for this purpose and the results are always so pretty. I use a 'special' thick vellum specifically for heat embossing and it never buckles either. Love this outcome.xx

Ohh!! Leslie, the gold embossing is absolutely gorgeous, but your coloring steals the show!!!
The inside is gorgeous too, the font on this sentiment is so beautiful and your heat embossing is flawless.
Thank you for sharing.

Oh my is that ever stunning, love the gold embossing on the vellum, I saw this too and I actually have heat resistant vellum so I need to give it a try! Your all white with just the image colored is just lovely and so is the way you did the inside!

So beautiful Leslie! Vellum wins every time! I love your gold embossing and copic coloring... what a good technique to get cards done a bit faster. Once I start coloring, I forget I don't have 4 ever! lol I'm trying to keep that in mind since it's already 12/4. eek...don't panic, steady, keep going... lol

Oh, Leslie, what an exquisitely elegant card! I love the white and the embossed elements, and the gold-embossed image is gorgeous with your coloring. It does look like stained glass in a way. And what a sweet poinsettia die...you have the loveliest ways to finish card off with an amazing touch. Love the sentiment in gold inside with the holly. Absolutely love everything about it! And I cannot find Ranger Queen's Gold embossing powder. I was making up some fast CAS cards and wanted to gold emboss and just didn't have the right shade of gold. And then I found one jar of powder that was old and not good. Need to go through them. Ha! Anyway, thanks for sharing your beautiful work! Hugs and love! xoxo

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful elegant card this is Leslie! Love the all white card, with the airiness of the vellum, your beautiful coloured image and the gold embossing, exquisite! It's been a while since I coloured on vellum. The colours are so vibrant. Love the added poinsettia and the way you did the word edger, nicely tucked underneath the layer, as well as the inside. Well you have certainly inspired me today, but I'm just too tired to work on cards. Still working 12 hour days, just having a cup of tea then off to bed. Thanks for sharing Leslie, I always love when you do! Enjoy your week. Hugs,

Wow, you have knocked this challenge out of the park!! I love the gold embossing on vellum the best, it just adds so much elegance! A beautiful stamp you have used too, and a very clever idea to frame it so the adhesive on the vellum is not noticed, now why didn't I think of that!! Thanks for joining in our challenge at Back To Basics and Beyond, too!!
