Bringing Home the Christmas Tree

Well, hello there!  It's been a week since I posted so, sheesh, maybe it's about time, you think?  Whenever I go to my room and try to be creative I end up with a big mess and very little else.  Too much holiday stuff on my mind, I guess.  This week I do have a few things to share, though, and starting off with a totally masculine Christmas card which turned out to be one of my favorites.

It was the last card I made for this year's mailing.  Sent to the father and son owner/operators of the RV park we visited over the summer and fall.  Rich loved his birthday card, so he suggested I make a similar card for them.  No need to twist my arm.  I was planning to use these dies for Christmas, anyway.

I combined Memory Box Pine Forest Frame, Impression Obsession Classic Truck, and Poppystamps Stitched Landscapes.  Cut an extra tree and put it in the back of the truck.  It took some time with layering and coloring, but I love how woodsy and festive it turned out.  More details are listed below my signature.

I'll return on Wednesday with the Double D challenge and then we'll see what happens after that.  Christmas is coming together little by little.  Wouldn't it be nice if we could put everything else on hold?  Enjoy your day!

Stamps:  Hero Arts Christmas Greetings Message  Paper:  Neenah Classic White, kraft wood grain card stock, Core'dinations red, SU Very Vanilla, American Crafts Kringle and Co. designer paper  Ink:  SU Chocolate Chip (sentiment), Copics for coloring truck and green tree  Accessories:  Stickles Stardust glitter glue  Dies:  Impression Obsession Classic Truck, Memory Box Pine Forest Frame, Poppystamps Stitched Landscapes

I actually have this truck die and use it a lot for birthdays! Leave it to you to think outside the box and make it as a Christmas card! They will be thrilled with it! Once again you have inspired me to see a different option! Can't wait to try this. Hugs!!

Wow! that matched up zig zag layering technique is mesmerizing, Leslie! Your use of layers and papers always makes me feel happy. I always have a big mess with little to show for it. At least you make lots of cards! LOL - but... that being said, I enjoy the process of making the mess! I can see why these images are fun to play with, and the little tree in the pick up is AWESOME! Your detailing is gorgeous in the inking of your truck. Merry Christmas, Leslie! hugs, de

Wow, Wow! Leslie I love your masculine card. The truck die sure has come in handy for a few occasions for you. I'm in awe over this card, the layering, die cuts and choice of papers, your complete layout rocks! I didn't notice the tree in the truck at first, it's so perfect for your scene. Leslie, you are amazingly so creative with your cards. I'm sure they will love this, it's just so perfect for the RV park owners. I love everything about this, could go on and on, but think I've said enough! LOL. Thanks for inspiring us today. Hugs,

The papers add so much texture to the card. Love all the layers but it still looks like it would be easy to mail. Love the colors and vintage feel.

No wonder it is a favorite of yours. I love it as well and I think it is a design that any gender would love. But it does indeed have a rustic woodsy feel to it. So glad you shared it. Yes, I am messing up too. I am baking and dumped too much oil into the recipe but caught the mistake and ended up making a double batch of cookies instead. And, I tried a new cookie and we have decided that will not be a repeated one. They were supposed to look like logs but my hubby called them dog (you know what)! They were covered with chocolate and did indeed resemble them. LOL

Oh my goodness, Leslie, you know how much I loved the BD card you made for Rich, so this one is no exception! Rich was right to suggest you make another similar card. I love that wood base and the red mat almost looks like material rather than paper. The detail, textures, and dimension are fabulous! I'll bet this father/son team are going to draw a breath in when they see this card!

I wish I could tell you that I finished my cards, mailed packages, and baked all the Christmas goodies -- sadly I can't. We have been so sick the past few months. Just when we think we have gotten over our colds, we're down again. Our trip to Massachusetts for Thanksgiving wore me out and Vance ended up in the hospital for a day when he started having trouble breathing. I think we're on the mend now (she smiles)

Hugs,
Susie ~
