Shopping My Stash for a Dress

All my new stamps fell to the wayside temporarily when I had the strongest urge to color this dress for the National Dress Day challenge at Shopping Our Stash.  National Dress Day was March 6th.  There was a time I would have loved wearing this dress, but it's a little young for me now.  Doesn't stop me from thinking it's just the cutest thing, though.

It's a Stampendous stamp called "Spring Fling".  Sixteen years old.  My, how time flies!  I've used it quite a few times in the past, but not for years.  I hadn't necessarily planned on making a clean and simple card, but it's such a large stamp, and I can't think for the life of me what I did with it in the past.  It probably would have involved ribbon and designer paper and rhinestones as I'm pretty sure clean and simple wasn't even in my vocabulary 16 years ago.

The 2018 version has a border made with a Lil' Inker Silly Stitched die.  The dots on the dress and in the flower centers are sparkled with a Spica Atyou glitter pen, which shows nicely when seen in real life.  It's infinitely easy to mail and will make a fun birthday card for a girly friend.

I colored with Copic markers and used an older SU sentiment from the set, "Absolutely Fabulous".

Well, that was fun, and how nice it was to bring out this older stamp.  Gosh, I still love it as much as ever!  Have a happy day!

OMG what a fun stamp and you've colored it perfectly for Spring! You really don't need much more ... the cuteness of this stamp 'says it all'. Yes, I too looked really cute in a dress like this 'once upon a time' ... but those days are gone {sigh!} Thanks for the memories and what a fun challenge! YOU GO GIRL!!

I miss wearing dresses, too, Leslie. I loved the feminine feel it gave me. This stamp is wonderful! Loving the swirly flourishes and pink flowers resembling eyelet embroidery. Your SU sentiment is sweet. Now, take a look at your 2nd card, and let's play the shrink game "what do you see". LOL Directly under the sentiment are two swirls which are the side of a man's face. The two dots are his eyes, the bigger green bud is his nose, and the leaf makes his mouth. LOL I can't help it. My mind frequently plays this game with me - never a dull moment, but seldom have a shared those moments with a friend. Don't want to be labeled completely crazy. Partially crazy will do. I am beginning to improve. One of those chronic viruses that choose to show up became active last month, and triggered a host of issues. My coordination is still off, and the vision in my left eye is still poor, but the vertigo is gone! I think of you every day with my collage of Leslie cards, and treasure much of the philosophy and thoughts you've shared - they have bolstered me more than you can know. Thank you for sharing your life with me. xx

I used to love wearing dresses but over the years my body played tricks on me and so now I can no longer wear any dressy shoes or even a dress as my legs are all done up with special stockings which would look horrendous with a dress. But this card is so darling and would work good for any gal of any age I think. I love the beautiful spring colors and the wonderful feminine appeal of it. I can see why this stamp design has remained in your possession. It is wonderful.

Beautiful coloring, definitely a spring dress, isn't it great to bring back old favorites to use again, you would never know it is that old of a stamp, you have given it a fresh feel to it.

So beautiful. Love the colors and your coloring. I used to wear dresses more too. But now it's office casual, nice slacks and tops, but dresses are only for church on Sundays, Maybe if I dropped about 20 pounds I'd dress up more.

Such a pretty dress...and beautiful card, Leslie. It's the perfect image for a "Wear Red" dress, as well! I really like the stitched die edge; it's amazing how these details add to the image. I think I have a small stamp that has a similar dress; I should look for it.

There's a national dress day??? I think I own 3 dresses and rarely wear them, I like them but it's getting tights on that gets harder and harder and I don't have the legs not to wear them.
Anyways... I LOVE your card and the stamps and the sentiment stamp has a beautiful font!

I too did not know that we had such a thing as National dress day! I very seldom where dresses, those days a very few and far between. Your card is beautiful, love the fresh spring feel to your yellow dress w/ pink flowers. This is a fabulous stamp, I too have this. It's been years since I have pulled it out. Love how simple this is with the border stitching and bit of glitter and of course the perfect mailing card! Thanks for sharing Leslie, your amazing!
