Purple Poppies

Just one last card before the weekend, and I hope it will leave you with pleasant dreams of warm weather and sunshine.

Isn't this a pretty poppies stamp?  Well, you can't buy it, but you can have it for free.  If you like to color and don't mind digital stamps there are all kinds to choose from at Digital Two for Tuesday.  Now, when you first click on the blog you may think it's not your thing, unless you're a very vintage-minded stamper.  I don't do much vintage these days, but many of the images Cora has shared do not appear vintage at all.  This one, for instance, could pass for a brand new stamp.

Colored with Copics and popped up on a sanded Core'dinations card base, some pretty iridescent sequins added... where's the vintage?  In fact, Cora found these poppies in a 1953 Jane Snead embroidery design booklet.  I still say, "where's the vintage?"  Does that mean I'm vintage, too?

If you'd like to have these poppies to color one of these days, you can find them and more right here.  Click to open the image in a light box, then right click and save.  These Jane Snead images are some of my favorites.    To see more of the pretty Jane Snead flower designs, click here and scroll down.  There are many I've colored in the past and many more I'd like to color in the future.

I've been following Cora on Digital Two for Tuesday for years.  It's a hugely selfless thing she does, searching out these images and cleaning them up for us to use.  Picking out one of her many vintage images and giving it a new look is a treat I haven't given myself for a while, but since I've been coloring so much lately...  I plan to do more.

That said, I have some brand new stamps I'll be spending time with, as well, so I'll be back next week if stamping continues to happen.  See you then!

Beautiful and it does look like a stamp. I see where she is up and running again and have several of her digi's in a file..somewhere, this is a perfect example of how beautiful her images are! Love those purple poppies, I have tried for years to get the blue ones to grow here in Michigan, figured if Alaska could have them, I could...nope, just isn't going to happen!!

OH MY WORD ... this is BREATHTAKING and in my favorite color (as you know, lol). I haven't been over to visit Cora's site for quite some time but I know she has some amazing images. You have certainly brought this one to life!! GORGEOUS!!!
We woke up to 5" of snow on the ground this morning so I'm staying put in my cave ... crafting away. Can't wait for Spring so I can get outside and play! Happy Day my friend and thanks for AMAZING inspiration!

Beautifully colored. And, so gorgeous in design too. You did great using the digi. I am not a digi fan as I find most of the time my printer ink will bleed into the colors. I might have the wrong kind of printer.

Thanks for the information and links. Masterful coloring, my friend. How long does it take you to color an image like this one?

I have a real "thing" for poppies, and these purple ones are gorgeous! (I have planted a "plum" poppy three times and have yet to see one even come up in the spring.)

STUNNING Leslie! Wow, I'm lost for words on this one, as everyone has already said what I'm thinking! You did one amazing job at colouring these poppies. Love the deep rich purple colour, against all the white space really makes this pop. Great job on the pointillism around the flowers - nice colour tones, so soft. Funny thing, I was just at Cora's website a few weeks ago, looking to see if she had posted anything new and she had not, but I see she just started a week or so ago. I have coloured a couple of her images a few years back, love her images, but I think I need to go get this one. Thanks for sharing your wonderful card today Leslie. I look forward to seeing more next week. Enjoy the weekend!

I think this card is absolutely beautiful - love your coloring, and the sentiment font is lovely as well. Thanks for your comment on my shamrocks. Right after I posted, we lost power and just got it back - and lost 7 pine trees. So sad! This winter has been wicked, so I so enjoyed you card making me feel like Spring is on its way!

Leslie, this is so rich and velvety that you can almost feel the petals! I love the pointillism as well. I read something the other day -- cast shadows always take on the color of whatever the image might be, i.e. (flower, vase, etc). I see hints of grey lavender in the pointillism and it provides such a beautiful shadow and depth to this piece. I love your coloring!

Oh, Leslie, I am swooning over this card! The image is beautiful, and you're right about this website and their images. You just have to look, and there is something for almost everyone. But you're right that this looks like a brand new stamp/image. Your coloring is exquisite, and the petals look like velvet. Your pointillism is perfect. I read Susie's comment about cast shadows, and you have them perfect. Stunning card, and thank you for sharing this one. I love it! Hugs! xoxo

Yes I have used some of hers in the past because you enticed me. This deep rich purple is wonderful and what a great CAS card so you focus on the blooms. Beautiful Leslie.
