Winter Wedding and Bridal Shower Cards

Here's a project I was committed to that I'm happy to have finished.  It's just two cards, but it took me all of one afternoon to make them, and that was after I'd already planned out the design of the wedding card.  My hat is off to all the folks who make fabulous cards using die cuts only.  It doesn't come easily to me.

I promised a friend I'd make cards for a wedding and bridal shower scheduled for December.  Since it's a winter wedding I thought I'd use cool colors, somewhat wintry, but with flowers, so I created a nosegay with blue and silver and lots of white.

The leaves are cut from silver glitter paper.  I added glitter to the roses and scattered pearls throughout.  The netting around the edges is multiple organza flowers folded in half and glued in place.  The "love" is layered a few times for dimension.

I seldom make cards that don't fit in an envelope, but this card will be hand delivered and at 5 1/2" it fits in one of the square clear boxes I have on hand.

Dies used on the wedding card are as follows:

  • Cheery Lynn French Pastry Doily
  • Die-namites Leafy Flourish
  • Memory Box Chloe Stem
  • Frantic Stamper Sending Love/Hugs

Next is the bridal shower card which was much quicker.  It's A2 size.

I've had these Prima flowers forever.  They come complete with snow and glitter.  I added the pearls and tucked in the die cut umbrellas.  Stamped a sentiment from Penny Black's "To You" set.  The embossed layer is done with a Cuttlebug Heritage Collection embossing folder.

Dies for the bridal shower card:

  • Memory Box Petite Umbrella
  • Die-namites Leafy Flourish (with a few branches snipped off)

I still have a couple of baby cards to make this month.  Life doesn't stop just because we're getting close to Christmas!  Have a happy day and I'll see you again soon!

Leslie, these are both stunning cards! I love how you created the nosegay on the wedding card, the silver leaves are so delicate just adds that extra elegance to it. The shower card is pretty, love those flowers with that bit of snow, these were meant to be used on this card! (I think I have some but in a different colour). And those cute umbrellas - love the plaid paper. I agree with you on the challenge it is to create a card with just die cuts- that's why it takes me a while making wedding cards as well. But in the end, you pulled it off, recipient will absolutely love both! Your eye for finishing touches makes both of these special! Gorgeous! TFS.

Leslie, the cool wintry colors are just amazing in both of these creations! Your thoughtfulness in making each one so different from the traditional shower and wedding cards will make them both keepsakes for the wedding album. I especially LOVE the design of your nosegay. How did you even think of that? I've never seen a wedding card like it. Not only did you use dies, but the project is BEYOND GORGEOUS. Like you, I have trouble making cards with only die cuts. I would never have guessed that you struggled, and am impressed that both of these beauties were created in an afternoon! The recipient will treasure your artwork - I know I do. love, de

Leslie...these are stunning. I agree completely about making a card with just die cuts. I too find it extremely difficult. I must say though...you would never know that you struggled as the end result is brilliant. Well done you! Cheers.

I love both cards. The silver and pearls on the wedding card really make it elegant, and the way you used the umbrellas is so cute. I have a similar die and have only used it once. You have inspired me.

Oh my Leslie, these are both terrific. I so love how you have layered and embellished on the flowers on both cards, love the silver leaves on the first also, and with such pretty doily to base it all, love the pattern on the umbrellas too, and pretty embossing to frame on the second.

What can I say but WOW! You are such a talented card maker, Leslie! The wedding card is an absolute treasure with that gorgeous nosegay backed with the doily--one of my favorite elements, but I seldom use them! Love the darling umbrellas for the shower card & the dry embossing is perfect! Fabulous work!

I know you think I'm terrible because I'm always so late to comment! It seems I'm always playing catch-up! This week Molly had her "Spay Day" and we are recovering from that. She is doing well but I'm deciding I'm too old for this stuff! It bothers me too much! I love your pieces, both are gorgeous as always!
