I've made two cards. The first brings to mind the cooler temperatures of our Pacific Northwest beaches. I embossed and sanded a blue panel, then added a few bits and pieces from my die collection, all older, some probably retired. They're listed further down. I'm especially fond of the fishing net which doesn't get many opportunities to play. The patterned frame was in my spare parts drawer. The sandy beach is torn paper.
Next is a tropical beach. The beautiful Mintay paper was not to be resisted, though I've had it for quite a while and barely used it. When I pulled out the pad I found the shell pattern with a circle already cut on the edge, so I used it to frame another piece, then added a woodgrain border. I brushed the tropical fronds with Stampin' Up inks Barely Banana and Sage Shadow.
I'm serious about using my designer paper more often. It can feel like cheating, but I put a lot of thought into this design and thoroughly enjoyed the process.
1 embossing folder -- Tim Holtz Sizzix Lumber 3D
1 paper pad -- Mintay Paradise
2 stamp sets (for inside sentiments, not shown)
My teamies at Double D have shared all manner of beach cards for inspiration. I hope you'll come along and have some beachy fun with us!

Geeze I can't decide which card is my favorite-so I won't even try. They are both so so fun. You sure have some dandy dies, but your designs make these cards! Very creative indeed! 💕Sue Kment
Two fabulous cards today, what a treat! I adore them both. I love the nautical blue and neutral tones on the first card. The fishing net is a great backdrop for the shells and grasses. The colors and tropical vibe on the second card makes my heart smile. I'm a tropical girl at heart, born and living in the wrong state. I love everything about this sweet card! Thanks for a lovely treat of two today, Leslie.
Leslie, both of these cards are breathtaking! The colors, details and fun sentiment. I can't choose a favorite because I love them both. Great collection of die cuts on them too!
These cards are amazing. Almost smell the sea breeze on that first card, just lovely with the fishing net and the colors. Your second card is definitely more Florida tropical I love how you shaded those green fronds. Both cards are delightful.
You've once again knocked it out of the park with your awesome well thought designs, how do you do that?? Both cards are perfection and love the way you have used the Mintay papers and the first card with the net is brilliant!!
So I'm in love with both cards too Leslie! Your 1st card with the blues and fishing net (LOVE that!!) and added die cuts is beautiful and your 2nd card with the tropical theme is absolutely beautiful too! I love the papers you used and they work so perfectly together! Lovely, lovely cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)
Both cards are lovely and I know what you mean about designer papers.. Since I LOVE make background papers I so rarely use the designer ones... Makes me wonder why I ever bought them. Have a great day
Your use of the patterned papers is amazing. You always inspire me, Leslie! I've no doubt that much thought and your excellent design skill went into making these beautiful cards. Both are fabulous, but I'm favoring the first one. Love the blues and the fishnet. The sentiment can't be beat!
Cheating?? NEVER! I give you tons of kudos for incorporating these lovely dsps especially when it seems they were MADE FOR the challenge, Leslie!
I must say your first card is deserving of a 'chef's kiss!' All the elements on your card seem right at home - and that netting? Just sensational!

Both fabulous beach cards, love all the die-cuts and the little seagulls. My favourite is definitely the second card with those absolutely beautiful papers.

Oh that net on the first card...so perfectly placed and your color scheme is fabulous. Your second card with all those gorgeous papers is another gorgeous piece. You rocked it with both of these.
Two wonderful and quite contrasting cards. They both conjure up such different environments but both are seasides. Don't apologise for using patterned paper. I enjoy your masterclasses on it. Very inspiring and helpful to someone like be who struggles to use it at all xx
Two beautiful beach cards, Leslie! The weathered wood and die cut fish net with the sea gulls flying almost make me hear the waves! Your use of pretty papers always impresses me! Another awesome combination! The die cut branches are a lovely addition! Beautifully colored!
they are both terrific, I so love that netting on the first one with the beach scene behind, neat how it looks like the birds are flying out of the scene too, the wood background is a neat touch with it too!
The second turned out great, the papers worked out perfectly together and your fronds were the perfect finishing touch with them. I use to feel like using the pattern papers are cheating a bit but not anymore, they can take just as long as anything else, just depending, and to me as long as the person receiving is happy to get it that is the most important thing :)
Wowza, that netting is awesome and what a fabulous scene you've incorporated it into! This is a marvelous card, Leslie! I was just looking back at some of my first card making efforts, I used to use PP all the time. You've reminded me that I need to use more of it... your second card is just fabulous!
Oh these are both so fabulous! One a cool retreat one a tropical paradise! Both have gorgeous scenes! Loving the blues and that awesome fishnet on your first one with the circling seagulls--probably looking for an errant French fry or two lol And then to the pretty Carribean seas! AHmazing! And I adore the color of your die cut sentiment, that is just lovely! Well done, you!
These beach cards are just divine! That net is such a clever die cut! Love them both!
I love the beach and both cards are just divine! I especially love that net. How clever!
Two fabulous cards, Leslie! So so many cool parts to that first card - perfectly placed. Love the papers on the second card, too.
Two great cards, I love the gulls in your first card and a great use of DP in the second ♥
These are absolutely wonderful in every way possible.
Two amazing beach cards, Leslie! I love that they are beach opposites! :) The first one is so peaceful ... definitely takes me there. The tropic beach is lush, and I'm sure, full of noise and excitement. Beautifully done, my friend! xx
Two great cards for this challenge! Your first card takes me down to the Jersey shore where we spent our summers growing up. I can smell the salt water just looking at your card! Your second card reminds me of when we were in the Caribbean. thanks for the memories!
What can I say, other than 2 more amazing cards! Love them both. Your beach scene is amazing, with the fish netting, so cool, and the gulls flying over, and then your tropical card, just swooning here, amazing papers, and love the tropical fronds added. Leslie, you always blow me away with your creativity! TFS! Hugs,
WOW! Both cards are absolutely awesome (no surprise there!). Thanks for always sharing such amazing inspiration!
Oh wow, these are simply stunning. I LOVE the fish net, and your patterned papers are wonderful. I can't stop looking at them, they are works of art!!
