Double D Challenge: Easter/Church/Cross

Hi friends!  It's time for another Double D challenge.  You know Easter is not that far away, so it's part of our theme today, but the challenge -- Easter/Church/Cross -- gives you other options if you're not doing Easter cards.  Here's our inspiration board:

The DDs are offering this prize to a random winner.  Creative favorites are by team vote.

It was great fun making my first Easter card of the year!  I must apologize if the white appears a little too blinding in the photo.  The sun is a welcome sight coming through my craft room window so I'll not complain.  The colors are actually true, and there is a lot of white, and I'm really happy with the cuteness factor of the card.

All the dies are Cottage Cutz.  The embossing folder is Spellbinders.  I thought at first the embossed pattern might be too big for the petite image, but in the end I love it.  I'm hopelessly addicted to 3D embossing folders and happy to have this one from a past Warehouse Sale making its debut today, fresh from the NBUS basket.

I will share in Darnell's NBUS Challenge #84 with my never before used Spellbinders Stylized Floral 3D embossing folder.

I hope you can find time to play along with our Easter/Church/Cross theme at Double D.  The team has some awesome inspiration for you!

It was so nice of you to stop by.  Take care and enjoy your day!

Stamps:  None except inside  Paper:  Hammermill 100 lb premium white, BasicGrey Sugar Rush designer paper  Ink:  Various Stampin' Up  Coloring:  Ink blending with brushes  Dies:  Cottage Cutz Just Hatched Chick, Happy Easter Phrase, Nested Wacky Stitched Rectangle Frames  Other:  Spellbinders Stylized Floral 3D embossing folder, Stickles Stardust glitter glue, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

Your card is just as cute as can be! That little peep popping out of its egg is just in time to celebrate this Holy season. I love all the wonderful texture on this beautiful spring card.

PS: I too have an addiction to the 3D folders (and the SB warehouse sales)!!

How joyful your inking is on the "Happy Easter" sentiment! What a great idea to highlight the top, and shadow the bottom, bringing dimension to the entire sentiment! Leslie, this is one beautiful card. My mind was playing with me through your darling chickie. "Wearing" her decorator egg shell - it looks like this chickie is going to pretend to be a duckling, and hop into the water, using the half shell as an inner tube! BTW, the gentle shading around the edges of the shell halves really makes the colors grab my eyes! BEAUTIFUL! I agree about your 3-D EF - it brings forth the burst of spring that most of the northern states are longing for just now. From just outside my craft room window, all the way up the hill to the top of the property, our azaleas are massively blooming in a host of colors! OH SO GORGEOUS and attracting lots of butterflies and pollinators! Our indigenous milkweed has died from the recent freezes. Fortunately, I had collected lots of seed pods when they burst open during the winter months, and Jacky planted them in the greenhouse. There is a bumper crop awaiting to be replanted. Since we are rural, it doesn't really matter how the front "yard" appears, so we have lots of potted milkweed along the sidewalk for the Monarchs and their lookalikes. In a few months, everything will be ready for the hummers and pollinators again. It makes me sad to no longer be able to take care of all the gardening, but I'm grateful Jack is now enjoying that part. It's fun looking at the tiny eco-systems in each pot. Well, I didn't mean to ramble so - your cards always awaken lots of memories and happy imaginative thoughts. Thank you! xx

Oh my gosh, what a sweet card. I love the white embossed background, it's so classy. And using patterned paper for the egg is genius, takes the whole thing to another level. Isn't that little chick just the cutest??
