Beautiful Birdhouse

Hello friends!  How about something flowerful as we head into the Easter weekend?  Before taking another step I wanted to color one of my many new Penny Black stamps... and, ohhh, I do mean many.  Yes, I indulged.  I was starting to lose sight of how much I enjoy coloring a beautiful stamp like this, and in keeping the card relatively simple I can eliminate "design fatigue" and do lots more coloring.  I learned the "design fatigue" term from Jill Foster during my late night crafty YouTube excursions.  I sure do suffer from it sometimes.  Do you ever?

The stamp I used today is from Penny Black's newest release.  It's called Birdhouse Beauty.  Aptly named.  It's a beauty alright!  The sentiment is also a new release set, Super Day.

I stamped in Memento Toffee Crunch on Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb hot press watercolor paper and then colored with Tombow markers and homemade blender.  Over time this method has become my favorite for coloring flowers, though I still enjoy other methods as well.  Whatever fits or feels right at the time.   I brushed SU Creamy Caramel ink around the edges and finished with sequins.

I'd like to play along in the following challenges:

Triple B Challenge -- Birds, blooms, or butterflies
Penny Black Saturday Challenge -- Anything goes, optional Easter
NBUS Challenge #60  (Never before used schtuff)  My NBUS is the Penny Black Birdhouse Beauty and Super Day stamps.

In case anyone would like the recipe for homemade blender solution:

2 tsp glycerin
4 tsp distilled water
1/4 tsp 70% rubbing alcohol
Shake in a small bottle to mix.  Use eye dropper to fill blank Copic marker.

I'm out of time so I must rush off.  I keep trying to figure out where the hours go.  On top of all the other life stuff Sophie has started her obedience training and we have homework.  She's only had one session, but she's doing well.

Till next time, have a lovely weekend!

Stamps:  Penny Black Birdhouse Beauty cling stamp and Super Day sentiment set  Paper:  Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb hot press watercolor, PTI Dark Chocolate, textured kraft Bazzill  Ink:  Memento Toffee Crunch, Memento Rich Cocoa, SU Creamy Caramel  Coloring:  Tombow markers and homemade blender solution in blank Copic  Other:  Studio Katia sequins

Leslie, I think I've just witnessed the reason you have all of those new PB stamps... you are such a talented artist and these images are perfect for you! You sure do have a way with no-line water coloring, my friend - all those deep shadows and highlights in these roses! It appears I need to buy that fabulous Memento Toffee Crunch ink!
You'll excuse me so I can go ogle it more - exquisite!

Oh Leslie, you've outdone yourself with this beautiful card. Your coloring is simply amazing and this card truly needed nothing else. Sometimes it's nice to get back to our simple roots of the craft we love so much. I've been really trying to focus on using what I have and not succumb to all the new releases. It's a hard battle but worth it in the end. Have a blessed Easter my friend!

Oh Leslie, this is simply gorgeous! Amazing colouring! I am swooning over your card. You know I was so tempted to by this stamp along with some others from the latest release, but I have so so many PB stamps I haven't even used. I only bought 3 items from their latest release. I wish I would of bought this one! I can't wait to see more from the latest release! Wishing you a wonderful Easter Weekend. We went to my son Mark & DIL's Anna's place yesterday for Easter, had a wonderful time. Hoping to do some stamping this weekend.

Oh, my! What a beautiful birdhouse, Leslie! The flowers are exceptional and I love how you colored the birdhouse and the watercoloring in the background. I need to look and see if I have any of that Creamy Caramel ink stashed away. I'd forgotten how pretty a shade of brown it is! Happy Easter!

Absolutely stunning Leslie! What an amazing colourist you are! I think one of the amazing things about paper crafting is that if you get fatigue about any of it, there's always a different technique to move onto. I find colouring such a relaxing activity and great when life is tough.
Hope Sophie's training goes well. Eva was the class Wild Child I'm afraid but we got there in the end! Happy Easter! Vicky x

This stamp is just beautiful, but I love all their stamps! Your coloring is stunning as usual! My daughter loves birds and owns so many houses I might have to add this to my collection! We had Easter on Saturday this year as Jennifer is spending Easter Sunday with her Dad this year, so I am recuperating and catching up on my mail! I hope you and yours have a blessed Easter!
