Snowy Tree Scene

Welcome back!  Fiddling around with some things I'd pulled from the drawers, making a mess on my desk... I decided to turn some of the mess into a card.  The die is Tutti Designs Fir Trees Arch Scene -- not yet used, but definitely on the Christmas card line up this year.  Two 110 lb layers over an alcohol ink background.

About that background... I own exactly 3 alcohol inks which I bought when they very first came onto the market way back in I-don't-know-when.  All this time I just haven't been sure if I wanted to start collecting a whole other thing, if you know what I mean.  Anyway, this is my 3 color background on photo paper with 91% alcohol as the blending solution.  It looks fine to me.

The snowflakes along the bottom of the card are those that popped out when the die was cut.  Quite usable and not something I could bear to toss out.  Cutting two dies I ended up with 16 snowflakes this size.  I used some inside the card, as well, but still have quite a few little snowflakes left.  They'll be showing up on other cards.

I'll send my card with its NBUS tree die over to NBUS Challenge #18.  I know, practically every card I make heads over to that challenge.  It's just that I have so much NBUS and I'm trying to use it.

More supplies are listed below.  Thanks so much for your time today!

Stamps:  SU Heard from the Heart sentiment  Paper:  Neenah 80 lb card base, 110 lb for dies, photo paper for AI background  Ink:  SU Bermuda Bay for sentiment, alcohol inks are Wild Plum, Stream, and Butterscotch  Other:  Tutti Fir Trees Arch Scene

I love your card. First off I love the tree die and then there is the gorgeous background. I never expected to hear Alcohol Ink...I sure thought it looked like some sort of shiny cardstock. So I'm totally impressed!

nice card. I like that die and love what you did with it. Still haven't made any cards sigh. I'm even wondering whether I'll make or send any Xmas cards this year. Just haven't gotten into the mood yet... Have a great day

Oh Leslie, what a gorgeous, amazing background you created for your sweet little line of pine trees!!
This makes me want to get some alcohol inks (I don't own any) and the photo paper and give this technique a try.
What a beautiful die!! And your sentiment just made me remember I have that stamp set and hardly ever use it, shame on me so thank you for making me think about it.
XO
Maria.

UGH! Now you've done it!!! I'm in the middle of a big project but I just have to break away and get out my alcohol inks and make a background like yours. It looks FABULOUS behind this Tutti die and you cute little photo prop bells are the exact same color ... how cool is that! Nicely done and yes isn't it fun to have those little popped out snowflake to embellish with. Quick, easy and BEAUTIFUL!!!
Now back to work for me ... thanks once again for inspiration! LOVE IT!!

Oh Leslie, it's more than "fine!" - it's gorgoeus! What a great background for the beautiful die cut. Love that you kept the snowflakes to use on this and other cards. The sentiment is so pretty, too.

You are killing me with all these awesome dies that you have. This one is super cool and I love that you used the little punched snowflakes from it as an extra embellishment on your card. I hear you about not wanting to purchase more inks etc...I think you did a great job with your background.

What a great die! It is so perfect with the coloring you did with the alcohol inks! It makes a really lovely Christmas card. And I love the fact that you got so many little snowflakes out of the die! One can never have enough snowflakes!!

Beautiful Leslie, the AI colours really pop against the white of the tree die cut. I must say if I tried mixing those colours I think I might get a muddy background so amazing job with the colours :)

Oh that alcohol ink background is just beautiful behind your die cut, I love it when we can use the extras that fall out of our dies. The design you did with the scoring and adding the sentiment under it is so pretty, Love it!

What a pretty pretty background and card, just perfect for your trees to rest on, hmmm wonder if I have this die, not even sure lol!! I love how the white trees seems to glow with the alcohol inks, I haven't used mine in ages either! Yes my friend was moving to a condo and sent me 2 large priority boxes of dies and stamps and it was all prime stuff, I was in die/stamp heaven!

Can't believe you said your AI background "looks fine" Leslie - it looks AMAZING!! Oh my goodness, what an eye catcher in the NBUS gallery where I spotted it! Just love the crisp white scene over top too but the background is the showstopper for me!!

Alcohol ink background! I love it with the detailed die cut. (Another Christmas card...I still haven't really thought about making them yet!) That is one terrific die...and the sentiment is a beauty, too.

This is such a beautiful elegant Christmas card Leslie, and you created such beautiful AI background with only 3 inks! So why do we need them all? I have not used my inks forever, maybe I need to explore this again. And that die is awesome! This card would be so easy to mass produce. I love your presentation as well Leslie.
