Late Summer Watercolor

It's time for fall colors, pretty flowers, and watercolors.  I'll confess... all the new stamps I've been buying lately are cute or whimsical or totally stylized, and that's because at the other end of the spectrum I have my huge collection of Power Poppy stamps and digis.  I need look no further as I have several I haven't colored yet.  For instance, this particular stamp from the Bountiful Bouquet digital set:

This is one gorgeous set!  The other image is is one of my all time favorites by Marcella.  Sigh... now that I've colored this one...  Seriously, what took me so long?

I literally flopped the card down onto the paint tray and snapped the pictures when it was finished.  It's very colorful with all those Gansai Tambi paints in the background.  With the abundance of stamping I've been doing lately it gets to be a bit much always clearing off the table, setting up for a picture, then putting it all back together for more coloring.

I don't know if you can see how I stenciled a leafy pattern onto certain areas of the background ever so faintly.  Just a bare suggestion.  After I made a blue wash around the flowers I stenciled with blue ink, then washed away most of it with a wet brush.  Splattered with gold paint, tied with linen thread, then popped up on a grocer's kraft card base which had been impressed with the largest die in the Lil' Inker Side Stitched Rectangles set.  The largest die impresses, but does not cut.

That's all the stamping for this week.  I'll be back!  Have a beautiful day!

Yes, what took you so long to pull this one out and colour! (Just kidding), but sure glad you did. Leslie, you always do such an amazing job at watercolouring, whether it be with paints or markers, your work is stunning! Love the fallish colours, leaves are just starting to change colour here, just the odd early maple, but up north where we are heading shortly the leaves have changed 30% already! Can't wait to see the beautiful hills covered with colour. I love that hint of leaf stenciling as well, and your linen thread just gives it a rustic feeling to your card. Love everything about this! TFS, hope you have a beautiful day! Love when you colour!

Leslie, this is stunning...as usual! I just love the colors and that background is so subtle, I hardly noticed it until you mentioned it. What a beautiful way to display your card too! Great idea, with those paint tubs in the background. Beautiful!

What a beautiful fall bouquet! You should really teach a class - your coloring is amazing! I like the blue wash as well. I'm not good at setting up my projects, but I think this sitting on the paints is perfect. Have a great weekend!

GORGEOUS! You color (paint) so beautifully! And what a better way to showcase your creation than to plop it down atop the very inks you've used to create it! I think it was a genius idea and looks AWESOME! Beautiful as always my friend!! Well done!!

Oh my Leslie - I think you have outdone even yourself on this one! Such pretty flowers and perfectly colored. I like that you just took the picture of the card on top of your paints:) So much easier! I'm glad you pointed out the stenciled leaves because I had missed them. Just wonderful!

Your gorgeous card is even More Gorgeous in Real Life, Leslie. I just received this beauty in my mail box today...Thank you so much my friend!! Even though I looked carefully at your watercoloring, watercolored wash and every single detail..I did not see the very subtle stenciled leaves. I can clearly see your leaves now:-) I love the purple berries with the touch of white gel pen for highlights. Your sunflowers and leaves are so beautifully colored too. I am so glad you added the linen thread..my favorite! Thank you so much my dear friend for Never forgetting my birthday. Love and Hugs...Nancy

Wow your water coloring is just gorgeous, you get such pretty details, I am glad you mentioned the stenciling, I guess I was so admiring the coloring that I didn't notice that, I did notice the framing and the linen thread you used with it gives it that nice country feel too :)
Sounds like you need to make yourself a picture taking station :)

Lovely image with your choice of colors. Appreciate you pointing out some techniques that make your image better than what I do. Perhaps I will try out your ideas and make mine better. Thank you.

Wonderful, fabulous, and so beautiful! I LOVE this one, Leslie! Your color choices are excellent, and the subtle leaf design on the background is stunning. I'm amazed at the depth you achieve with your watercolors in the flower centers. I'm happy with all your new stamps and how much fun you're having with them. All the styles are nice, but this one is so YOU.
