Poinsettia in Gold

Did you observe World Card Making Day Saturday?  I spent a good part of the morning addressing cards for the mail, and in the afternoon I made three cards.  Monday morning I photographed.  There's a lot more to stamping than making cards!  I'll have to wait a bit to share some of the cards I made, but today I have a Christmas card.

The frame and poinsettia were already cut and laying on my desk unassembled.  They looked dull and uninteresting until I splattered them with dilute white acrylic paint.  Perhaps too dilute, hence the large splatters, but I still like the look of it.  I cut the poinsettia again from green glitter paper for the leaves, and nested it on gold glitter foliage.

The flower center is glitter paper circles.  I know, not very gorgeous, but it will be easy to mail.  I had a fancy rhinestone brad all picked out for it, but in the end I couldn't bring myself to add the hard bulk.  Glitter paper dots and the retired JustRite sentiment finish it off.  Here's the die list:

Poppystamps Stitched Poinsettia Trio
Poppystamps Sylvan Sprig
Die-namics Stitched Rectangle Frames

I'm happy to have added another Christmas card to my stash, and it sure was quick and easy.  Thanks a lot for visiting today.  You know I love it when you stop by.  Take care!

Leslie this is just adorable. The pretty poinsettias and those splats, love it and the whole card is stunning. It's amazing what a splat here or there or even everywhere does to enhance a card, great sentimental stamp too.xx

Oh Leslie, I adore those splatters, you are a brave one my friend, I'm always terrified of trying in fear of totally messing my card.
And I adore that Poinsettia in gold, gorgeous and so elegant.
You should come and share this amazing card at THE FLOWER CHALLENGE, which is "Add Sparkle", we would love to see you in the gallery.
Hugs,
Maria.

I love the big splashes...it just brings what could be a very traditional card modernized! I am so glad you tried that as I have a gigantic poinsettia sitting in my drawer that looks a little blah and I’m going to try your method. But since I have carpet...may bring the splattering down a tad! Beautiful card, Leslie!
