Double D Challenge: Tea and Coffee

Hello friends!  We're at Double D Challenge time again and Darlene has chosen Tea and Coffee for our theme.  What fun!  It made me look at lots of favorite old stamps and some favorite not so old stamps.  Decisions, decisions...  Ultimately I settled on a summery card using a Power Poppy set called "Tea in the Garden".  I hope you can tell this is supposed to be iced tea.

When you look at the mood board you can see how I was inspired by the pretty tea tins.

The team votes on favorites and I know there are going to be lots of favorites for this challenge.  Additionally, there's a prize for a random winner.  We have a cute stamp set this time:

Coloring is Copic markers on X-Press It Blending Card.  The square lattice die cut was layered white-onto-black, slightly offset so the black barely shows, but it made all the difference in how distinctly it contrasted with the flowery designer paper.

I added a flower embellishment with a Doodle Bug Matte Sprinkle in its center and my card is good to go for a summer birthday.  I sent out quite a few July birthday cards, so my stash needs replenishing.  All supplies are listed below my signature.

The team rose to the challenge with all kinds of fun and pretty cards.  Check them out at Double D, and then come play along.  See you soon!

Stamps:  Power Poppy Tea in the Garden  Paper:  X-Press It Blending Card for image panel and flower embellishment, other white for lattice die and card base, black, Prima Annalee designer paper  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics for coloring  Accessories:  Doodle Bug Matte Sprinkles (Spring collection), Joy Crafts Square Frame die, Spellbinders Standard Circles Large, Sue Wilson String Flowers, Sue Wilson Small Pair of Leaves

Leslie, I love how you offset this beautiful die with black, it frames this refreshing Chamomile Ice Tea image perfectly, your amazing coloring brings it to life. The pattern paper is gorgeous and the little daisy die cut matches the little Chamomile flowers beautifully.
Thank you for the inspiration and I will see you in the gallery.
XO
Maria.

The inspiration for the floral background paper from the tins is fabulous, Leslie! I can just picture sitting in your garden, sipping tea, and enjoying the pleasure of humming bees, playing Goldens, sweet conversation, and a lovely setting. All in a wonderful backdrop, only prettier than your beautiful card! Such a intriguing white daisy die cut - it almost reminds me of tiny white coated paper clips carefully arranged. Beautifully done, Leslie! hugs, de

I love this card. And yes you can tell it is ice tea! I like the floral background and you colored the tea so good it looks ready to drink! I just order the new tea set from SU along with the tins. I thought I would decorate them and fill them up with tea for Jennifer's teachers at Xmas.

Well you did it again Leslie, another wonderful creation. I'm always 'wowed' by your cards. You picked a perfect image for your card today, and what a great paper choice for the background - some great inspiration on the mood board. Your ice tea looks yummy, perfect colours. I love that square frame die, and how you layered black behind it. The flower and leaves are a nice finishing touch. Beautiful card to add to your stash! Enjoy your day!

Simply gorgeous, Leslie! The black matting looks amazing against the white and floral background papers. So refreshing...makes me want to sit and have a glass of iced tea!

I could definitely tell that was a pitcher of Iced Tea (Sweet Tea I hope) - I'm a southern gal now so it's sweet tea with lemon. And, I can also see the tea tin inspiration in your background patterned paper. It's a beautiful card and the the tea color was "spot" on (smiling).

Hugs, Susie ~

Oh, Leslie, as soon as I saw that pitcher and glass, I knew it was ice tea! Cool and delicious, I'm sure! What a lovely card with such a beautiful die and DP behind, and the flower and leaves are beautiful! But it's your amazing coloring that really makes this card (usually is -- wink!). I love it, sweet friend! Been way behind and dealing with "life," as we all are. I hope you are having a wonderful time away. Hugs and love! xoxo
