Flowerful Friday: Red Roses for Sympathy

Welcome back!  Today's Flowerful Friday is another sympathy card.  Still working on that order and making prettier cards when I have the chance.  This is an 1893 illustration from The New Guide to Rose Culture.  I promised myself I'd color more of the digis I saved from Digital Two For Tuesday, so they'll be sprinkled in here and there.  Remember, everything at DTFT is a freebie.  You can find these roses here.

This image does have a vintage look, but I lightened it up with white and pretty aqua.  You can see it's printed in sort of a teal-green.  I like that.  However, it was absolutely not my idea.  It was my printer's idea.  It does the strangest things when it needs a nozzle cleaning, and it needs a nozzle cleaning every time I use it.  Well, I forgot... and imagine my surprise when it printed this color.

I printed on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White and used Copics for coloring.  Retired Just Rite sympathy sentiment in die cut rectangle.  Die-namics Stitched Rectangle Frames.

I'll pop in with something cheerful on Monday.  Staying focused...  Have a happy day!

Well the printer sure knew what is was doing as it couldn't be any more of a perfect color!! Love the Roses image and the coloring you did on them is over the top gorgeous...what a pretty pretty card!! I sure hope you get your mail order resolved, I had a similar issue a few weeks ago but finally got my order, we have real mail issues here, and never get Saturday deliveries anymore...long story on that one, I spend so much time at the PO complaining, I should work there, oh wait I did, eons ago when my son was 10 months, he's 45 now...and things haven't changed there a bit LOL...I feel your pain! Try and have a great day!!

Wow!! Your passion for gardening is obvious in every flow card you make! They always look more like a perfect photo than a colored image ! I don't know how you do it! I just know we are in for a treat whenever you color flowers! Awesome card, Leslie!!

Don't you love a happy accident. The color your printer picked is perfect and your coloring is gorgeous as always. What kind of a printer do you need to get images that you can water color on?

Your roses are so real, I want to smell them! Love your colors and highlights on your flowers and your teal printed background. Love how your framing brings your card all together. A beautiful sympathy card design, my friend. TFS Hugs...

Beautiful Leslie! Although your printer took a mind of it's own, I'm glad - I'm partial to the teal color (smiling). And how sad I am that JustRite closed their doors. I have some of their lovely stamps and for that I am glad. Your Sympathy card is a lovely one for Flowerful Friday. Have a wonderful weekend (hopefully no rain).

Oh So Lovely, Leslie! Thanks for the link and for showcasing this set. You've colored it beautifully! Thanks for mentioning about your printer - since I have the same one. It was so disappointing the first time it printed that teal color instead of black. And yes, I must clean the nozzles frequently, something I never have to do on my HP printer. Still, it is true blue about not smearing, and the HP smears even with Copics! In this case, it turned out to be a plus to have that teal color! It's a beautiful card. I also enjoyed seeing your Calendar photos of your dear Goldens. They are beauts, and you certainly find the best photos to share! hugs, de
