Double D Challenge: Splatter

Hi there!  How about another Double D Challenge?  It's all about splatter today.  Big splatters, little splatters, crazy splatters, tidy splatters... let's get messy!

I don't know about you, but my splatters generally get messy.  Today wasn't too bad.  I had my splatter screen and craft mat, and my splatters were fairly well controlled.  I used them as a background for the rose cone -- Penny Black's Flower Scoops.  The cone and rose are separate stamps so you can use them in a variety of ways, but I rather like them together.  I thought it would work as a birthday card with the "sweet wishes" sentiment (Cottage Cutz).

All the coloring was done with Copics on watercolor paper, including the butterfly and die cut words.  After coloring the butterfly wings I went over them with a brush tip Ranger Distress embossing pen.  I love that thing, but I forget to use it.  It's perfect for smaller things such as the butterfly.  I then embossed the wings with a years old Iridescent Peacock powder which gives it clear and truly iridescent stay-in-place sparkle.

The team has some fine samples to share with you, so hop over to Double D and check them out and then I hope you'll splatter along with us!

Have a super day!

Stamps:  Penny Black Flower Scoops  Paper:  Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb hot press watercolor, Close to my Heart Vineyard Berry, SU Pink Pirouette  Ink:  Palette Noir, SU Rose Red & Pink Pirouette  Coloring:  Copics  Dies:  Lil' Inker Silly Stitched Die Set, Memory Box Canyon Butterflies, Cottage Cutz Sweet w/Shadow & Wishes w/Shadow  Other:  SU Subtle embossing folder (on card base), Ranger Distress embossing pen, Iridescent Peacock embossing powder, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

Delightful! What a fun image combining the different stamp sets. Love the rose topper on the waffle cone. The spatters could be dew sprinkles! That butterfly is amazing too. Your coloring is always spot on. I wish I had the coloring talent of my fabulous teamies!

This is a fabulous card Leslie. Love the splatter. It’s perfect - not too much and not too little. I can see that cone filled with a custard and I would lick that rose. YUM… That butterfly is beautiful and the glitter is fabulous. Thanks for the enhanced pic of it. You outdid yourself. Have a great day.

Love your splatters, Leslie! Did you splatter with watercolors or re-inkers? Can't seem to find that. The butterfly is exquisite! What a great addition to the sweet theme.

Oh, I love this shimmery butterfly, Leslie! And the rose cone is amazing! Your splatters worked out perfectly! I always hold my breath when I try splatters. It can ruin the whole card if it goes bad! I'm glad your worked out well this time. It would have been a shame to ruin this pretty card!

Is it a peony or a rose...I thought it was a rose cone, but either way it's BEAUTIFUL Leslie! Your coloring always amazes me my friend!! And I love your controlled splatter too...I tend to go a little (ok, maybe a LOT!) overboard when I splatter! Haha!! And your sparkly butterfly is the perfect addition to this lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)

So pretty, I love how the splatters give it a great celebration feel to it, I don't remember this set but boy is it a cute idea, your coloring is just awesome, even on the sentiment, and the sparkle is so pretty on the butterfly. I am with you I don't think I have used my pen in years, wonder if it still has anything in it :(

I love your beautiful rose coloring Leslie! I’ve never tried copics on watercolor paper. I’ve done a bunch on Bristol. So fun to try different mediums! Too bad we need to eat and sleep! We could craft all day!

Good grief I left my brain in Florida. Totally forgot to comment on the team's cards for this Double D challenge. The coloring on your card is fantastic. Everything looks so real. I love the highlights on the Rose. That butterfly, so glad you used the pen and added the glitter It is amazing.

Hi, Leslie! Fabulous multi colored splats! Either that ice cream flower is melting, or it is shaking off its coordinating water droplets! LOL Cute as can be, especially with the "sugar-fied" butterfly. A+ on depicting the challenge so well! Take care - hugs, de

I think your splatters are amazing, as is your "rose" ice cream cone. Beautiful card, beautifully executed.
