Hello friends! It's Double D Challenge time again and for this go around Darlene is asking for tea or coffee themed projects. The pretty inspiration board is designed to help warm us up and get started.
The prize for a random winner is two packs of very pretty peel off stickers -- butterflies and teapots & cups. I think I would love to color those teapots!
The team votes for creative favorites. As always, there's more information on the Double D blog.
Let's play!
**********
Did I make a bird card or a coffee card? Well... both, and it was a lot of fun! I considered making this for our previous "Humor" challenge, but then I knew the "Tea or Coffee" challenge was coming up, so I saved it for now.
Simon Says Stamp Birdies met up with Cottage Cutz Cup of Love and opined with Art Impressions See You with a Latte sentiment.
I chose the very old BasicGrey Phoebe designer paper to play with because the swirly pattern from which I cut the frame loosely reminds me of a fancy latte. In fact, the birds, cups, branch, and flower accents were all cut from the Phoebe paper.
The white eye dot was made with white acrylic paint and a very skinny brush. Sometimes I forget the eye dot, but it really does add more life to a character.
A little note about using the designer paper for die cuts: I like to glue a layer of designer paper onto cardstock before cutting. It firms up the DP and saves cutting twice and then trying to match up the layers. That was especially helpful with the branch and the birds' beaks and legs. Maybe you do this, too?
I hope you'll visit the Double D blog, enjoy the team's cards, and then play along with yours. Have fun, and have a beautiful day!
Stamps: Art Impressions See You with a Latte Paper: Hammermill 100 lb premium white, BasicGrey Phoebe designer paper Ink: Ranger Archival Jet Black for sentiment, various SU inks for shading die cuts Dies: Simon Says Stamp Birdies, Cottage Cutz Cup of Love, Taylored Expressions Stitched Rectangle Stacklets Other: White acrylic paint for eye dot

This is darling, Leslie and couldn't be any more fun with that sentiment. I love the whimsy of this card, from the swirly background to the decorative teacups, finished off with those whimsical birds. Cuteness times 10!
So very cute, Leslie! The background paper and colors lend to a Boho design in my mind. The swirls definitely fit the latte theme and I love those cute birdies! Thanks for the great idea of backing DP with CS. I will definitely do this going forward!

What a great challenge! I hope to play in this one. How clever to combine the darling birds-on-a-branch with tea cups, Leslie, this is fabulous! As always, you masterfully wove in the pretty paper and the perfect sentiment. I love this one! Even down to the curly-cues coming out of the cups and the tiny flowers...such delight!
Too Cute! Love your sweet little birdies and that sentiment--I feel the same way, although an afternoon latte may keep me up all night--yes, I am that old! Pretty card!
This is absolutely awesome, how cleverly creative, I think I have some of this Prima in my stash, what a fabulous way to use it, and the sentiment is fabulous too!!
What a fabulous card, Leslie, and so perfect for the challenge! I love the dotted eye - great idea! And a great tip for layering the die-cuts, too.
Oh my goodness, this is just so dear. I love that fun background patterned paper, it showcases the focal perfectly. And those birds are FABULOUS, so stinkin' cute. The greeting is so perfect for the challenge, you have got a winner here.

The first thing I noticed on your card are those sweet birds But then as I look closer I see that all the paper just seems to match and have that linen look and feel to it. I love that you added the cups in that sweet sentiment is just the best.
Your birds with the coffee cups go perfectly with the challenge, love that you used all the pattern papers from the set for this lovely card. I sometimes forget to glue them to cardstock ahead of time, but always do that when cutting out my calendar images. Love how you have the seen going outside the frame, I really like that look and will have to remember that :)
What a fun card, that sentiment is perfect
Such a fun card, Leslie! The background paper with all the swirls and colour does look like a latte! :) And those birds are so adorable. xx
