Daffodil Trio

Hello, and welcome to a new week at my happy place!

While spring is still fresh and young I thought I'd color some daffodils.  Those in my garden have long since come and gone, but Penny Black's not-yet-used Flower Scoops from last year will work nicely for a friend's birthday later this month.

The SSS Teardrop Pinpoint Frames on the pretty designer paper provided an extra feminine starting point for the base.  The additional mat was measured and cut with my paper trimmer, and the corners punched with an oldie but goodie decorative corner rounder.  I brushed the edges with Stampin' Up Mellow Moss ink and stamped a sentiment from another PB set.  Off to a good start!

The daffodil bouquet was colored with Tombow markers and blender on watercolor paper, then hand cut and shaped from the backside with a roller ball type stylus.  It's popped up on foam tape, plump in the middle with the edges curled back.  Three iridescent sequins finish the card.

Speaking of springtime and happy place...

Ridley's happy place is anywhere with a ball.  You can probably guess that on this April day he'd been chasing it quite a bit.  It can be hard to get any work done out there, but he's worth it.  The forsythia has now dropped a lot more blooms as the green leaves push them out of the way to have their turn in the garden.

Challenges today:

Triple B Challenge:  Birds, Butterflies, Blooms  -- Today I have blooms.
NBUS Challenge #85 -- My never before used schtuffs are Penny Black Flower Scoops and Simon Says Stamp Teardrop Pinpoint Frames.  I feel like a broken record as many times as I've linked to this challenge.

That's all for today, friends.  Wishing you peace and happiness and plenty of crafty time.  Thank you for visiting!

Stamps:  Penny Black Flower Scoops, Super Day  Paper:  Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb hot press watercolor, Hammermill Premium 100 lb white, Paper Rose Flower Shoppe designer paper  Ink:  Memento Toffee Crunch for image outline, Memento Tuxedo Black sentiment, SU Mellow Moss shading on mat  Coloring:  Tombow markers and homemade blender  Other:  Simon Says Stamp Teardrop Pinpoint Frames, Marvy decorative corner rounder, iridescent sequins, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

Your wrapped daffodils are delightful! You've colored them beautifully and that lacy layer frames them perfectly. Our daffodils are just starting to open but we had a hard frost last night as it got down to 24 degrees during the night. Now the flowers are flopped over. Such is the chances that spring weather brings, I guess. Ridley looks tuckered out, but supremely happy to have that ball at his feet. I always enjoy seeing pictures of your sweet pups!

Beautiful card. That’s a lot of 3d’ing but it must make it really stand out (pun intentioned). We had a freak 6” dump of snow on Thursday, so no daffodils yet, but gorgeous weather today. Getting my summer tires put on. Have a great day

What a gorgeous Spring card with your pretty daffodils, yes, a very feminine card with the SSS die, one I haven't seen before. I still have a few late blooming Daffodils in my gardens but the forsythia is long gone, what a beautiful picture of Ridley. Thanks too for joining our challenge at Triple B!

This is gorgeous. I love daffodils as did my younger brother who passed away unexpectedly three years ago. Your background is a great background for the image.

So pretty Leslie! I always love your design and beautiful coloring! Riley isn't the only one that loves balls! Our one year old great granddaughter, Annabelle absolutely loves balls and being outside! lol So cute and yes I just want to watch her and get nothing done!

Oh, Leslie! I'd take a double scoop of daffodils over ice cream almost any day! Forsythias have a special place in my heart, too! We had a prolific 'fence' of them at my childhood home - never did they get treated to a smile as cute at Ridley's!
Such a gorgeous card!

Beautiful spring card with those pretty daffodils, Leslie. Love the vintagey card base with lovely shades of green. Riley does look a little tuckered out. :) Wish I had just a little of his energy! :) xx

Oops, Ridley stole the show, Leslie! On a nice spring day, I'd be outside with them all day long, too! At first glance, I thought Ridley's ball was some kind of amazing flower, lol! That's okay, because I got my amazing flower fix when I scrolled back up and enjoyed your spring bouquet! I remember Tomboy markers, but girl, you take painting with them to a whole new level! And your triple-layer background with the shading and border details makes the whole design so elegant! Hugs, Darnell p.s. Thank you for playing again in NBUS!

Goodness, do I ever love the colors of your daffodils! They've faded in our area too, so I'll just enjoy your splendid paper version! Ridley seems to have a happy smile playing among the forsythia!

So beautiful! I love that you remember to use your things! I have decorative frame dies and I forget to use them. And I still have several corner punches, too. A wonderfully put-together card, Leslie. Gosh, your daffodils are already gone and we haven't even gotten any flowers yet. :-)

Your flowers are just gorgeous, wonderful coloring of them, so life like, Such great dimension you gave to it too, and love the pretty matting you gave to it! Your friend will just love it!

oooooh! how lover-ly! Leslie, your shading always brings a sweet, peaceful yet professional look to everything you ink up. Lovely card - and the only way I'll be enjoying daffodils is in this artwork, since they don't grow here - doing the single white bloom with the yellow is a wonderful way of showcasing these beauties - the forsythia is amazing! It also does not grow here, so thanks for sharing the wonderful photo. Wishing you lots of delight this day, as your daffodils delight mine! hugs, de
