CAS Mix Up Challenge: Rainbow Colors with Stencil

Hello and welcome!  The first of a new month means it's time to usher in a new CAS Mix Up Challenge, and our host, Susan, has come up with a colorful idea:  Rainbow Ink Blending or Colors.

It's important this month to remember to use a stencil in the creation of your rainbow colors.  See the challenge blog for a couple of links to some very cool tutorials which I'd like try in the future.  I may have to make my own stencil for those, but that's okay, too.

This is the most fun I've had with ink in a long time!  I made a few extra rainbows while I was at it and will decide later what to do with them.  For this CAS card I used a stripe stencil and included all the colors of the rainbow.  I do love color!

I did not plan to layer the sentiment.  Initially I stamped it directly onto the card and I thought that looked a lot better, but there was an oops, so out came the layer.  Same with the sequins.  Two little out of place ink dots led to five sequins.  Turns out that was a good oops.

All the inks I used are SU, probably most of them retired, but I'll list them for those who may like to know:  Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Yo Yo Yellow, Green Galore, Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue, Orchid Opulence

Be sure to visit the CAS Mix Up Challenge to see some colorful, pretty, and interesting samples by the team and our guest designer, Michele Ferguson (I Card Everyone).  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Stamps:  Retired SU Small Sayings  Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Super Smooth Solar White 110 lb, black  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo black for sentiment, see above for rainbow colors  Other:  Sequins, Cottage Cutz Bird Trio die

  1. Great idea for your rainbow colours, love how you have faded them out. That bird die cut in black creates a perfect contrast and the sequins are placed beautifully so you managed to get your rogue ink spots in exactly the right place! xx

  13. I adore your rainbow, and these gorgeous silhouetted birds, Leslie. But if you know me at all, I'm a girl who loves words - this sentiment is so wonderful, my friend - today I'll think of you as my sister, if you don't mind?
I don't believe in 'oops' - the label, and those sequins were destined to be part of this beauty!
