Meander in Yellow

Hello and happy day to you!  Moving right along with some flowers... this Penny Black Meander stamp has only been waiting since spring for me to put it to paper.  Sometimes I forget how much I love to just sit and quietly color.

Stamped on hot press watercolor paper with Ranger Archival Watering Can, the coloring is with Tombow brush markers and the occasional use of homemade blender solution in a blank Copic marker.  It's my go-to coloring method these days.  I can't say it's easier or more difficult than other methods, but I enjoy it.

I also enjoy playing with designer paper and I've got way too much of it, so I'll take any opportunity to put it to work.  Here are some oldies that are unobtrusive enough to play backup for the flower image.

The sentiment is a composite from the Penny Black Note Builder set.  Have I mentioned how much I adore my Penny Black stamps?  If I could only have one bucket of stamps... well, thank goodness I don't have to choose.

I made today's card with specific challenges in mind:

Penny Black Saturday Challenge  -- It's anything goes with the optional "anything but square".
Triple B Challenge -- Birds, blooms, or butterflies.  See their gorgeous yellow inspiration board!
The Flower Challenge #95 -- Include a stamped flower.  Stamps are my first love in this craft.
NBUS Challenge #66 -- Never before used schtuff.  The Penny Black Meander flower wreath is a first time use.

I rarely do that many challenges for one card, but they were all so inspiring and it was easy to fit them in.  Sending thanks to all the folks who work to keep them going.

And thank YOU for kindly dropping in.  Let's do this again soon.  Take care!

  9. Well Leslie, at the moment I am working my way down to a bucket of stamps! It will be the biggest basket that I can find, loaded with mostly PB. What I came to say is that I couldn't love this card more! The colored wreath is gorgeous, and I love how the papers enhance it! You know how I feel about yellow and sequins too.

  10. Sigh... how incredibly lovely. I can just picture you at your desk, leisurely inviting your soul to select colors and techniques from the garden of your imagination. Leslie, so exquisite! When you use Tombows and watercolor paper, do you stamp the image first, let it dry, then dampen the paper before coloring? Your "bleed" techniques always wow me. This beautiful creation is delicate, lovely, and everlasting since it is a circle! My eyes keep roving counter-clockwise to better see the interiors and shading. Pure loveliness! (kinda like the artist who created it!) hugs, de

  20. Meander is the perfect name for that floral image and you've colored it so beautifully, Leslie. PB does make wonderful stamps and this one is a beauty, as is the sentiment. I am always in awe of putting together just the right patterned papers for a subtle background, as you've done here. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely card over at The Flower Challenge!

  21. so beautifully colored Leslie! You are magical with these Tombow markers! I've always loved them too but use them more for lettering on envelopes these days. I must color with them again! We used to stamp on 100% cotton bristol and blend with some kind of blender! I think it was an alcohol one before copics. I loved the effect! I need to make up a card doing it and send it to you! oh to sit down and color with you! That would be so FUN!!!
