Tropical Toucan

Hello again!  Continuing with Creative Expressions week... it's an edger die today -- one of several I bought a few months ago.  This one is called Tropical Toucan.  I've had the most fun with all my edger dies.  They can be simple or you can do more.  With this one I spent a little extra time coloring and piecing.  No fancy coloring techniques, but it really doesn't matter.

After I cut the die I poked out all the little pieces and let them fall in a jumble on a sheet of paper.  It's just like working a jigsaw puzzle, but you color the pieces yourself.  And, yes, there are some very tiny pieces!  I covered the card base with designer paper, glued the die onto that, then went to work with my jigsaw.  The sentiment is Big and Little Reverse Words from Memory Box, cut with it's own die.

Just fun.

I'll share again in Darnell's NBUS Challenge #40 because my Toucan is fresh out of the never-before-used-schtuff basket.

Thank you!  Wishing you a happy, safe, and healthy day!

  15. That for sure is more work but fun to do and gives even a more interest to it, love how you did the coloring and that paper compliments it all just perfectly! Lovely creation!

  16. What a great week you have had. This one has turned out brilliantly, I love those bold colours and the wonderful contrast with the white. Thanks for showcasing those edge dies, I have looked at them but not bought, as I wasn't sure how I would use them. This one is brilliant inspiration. I love to inlay diecuts and know exactly how it feels to be working with those tiny pieces. The times I have had to cut it out again because I have lost just one piece - so frustrating, but somehow I always find myself doing it again! Of the 4 fabulous cards I have just reviewed, this is my favourite xx

  17. I find that making a card with just dies is very satisfying as coloring up an image. Often it is easier and takes less time. These bold colors are perfect for the die-cut toucan and I love that you did the inlays to make it complete!

  19. You certainly have been busy with all those die pieces! I don't know if I would have the patience to do that! Your card turned out great. The edge dies look like so much fun! I have to admit that very time I see a Toucan I think of the cereal Fruit Loops! One of the kids loved that cereal! Have a great weekend!
