California Poppies

Friday greetings, friends!  Today's card will wrap up the Rubbernecker for this week.  Next week, if stamping happens (and I'm pretty sure it will) I'll do something different.  However, I still have another week of Rubbernecker to share later.  I know!  I let things pile up, but this idea of sorting my NBUS by company and staying focused on one company at a time has really helped make a difference in the overflow of those baskets.

Today I'm using Poppies, which was another clearance item.  I did not have any sweet little poppies like this so was happy to add them to my collection.  They're  colored very simply with Tombow markers and blender.  The sentiment is also Rubbernecker, but one I've had for many years.

I did outside the box die cutting, then popped up and tied the ribbon.  Feeling good about using that ribbon.  No big bulky bow to hinder mailing, so this works for me.  The card base is vanilla on vanilla, with the layer partially embossed.

I'll be sharing my poppies at Darnell's NBUS Challenge #38 again today.  Pretty sure I'll never run out of NBUS no matter how hard I try!

I'll also share again at Can You Handle The Pressure?  I did not use the optional "pastels" twist, but the embossing is a prominent part of the card.  I really appreciate how this challenge has nudged me toward my embossing folders more often.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Enjoy your weekend!

  3. I love your card and how you used the stamp and cut out just a little bit to have it 'outside' the box. I also have that Cuttlebug folder and will have to pull it out to use now that I have seen it once again. Have a very good weekend!

This is sensational: love the embossing, the offset layered panel, the way you colored that awesome poppy stamp, and the way you used the ribbon! You used ribbon! 11. Another gorgeous card and I love flowers. The color on this is so beautiful. I always wondered what to do with an embossing folder that was open on one side. This is perfect.

  12. Leslie, another amazing gorgeous floral card! You blow me away with your creativity! Love the design, fabulous idea of 'outside' the box, just love how that one poppy looks hanging off the side. Wonderful idea for the ribbon too. The embossed background is lovely, I have this folder and haven't used it in a very long time! I might need to case your layout! Thank you for sharing another Rubbernecker card, which I never tire of seeing, keep them coming! Wishing you a wonderful weekend Leslie!

  14. Gorgeous, Leslie. The poppies are gorgeous and I love how the one flower spills of the layer. The added embossing, ribbon and twine give it so much texture and dimension. Just Fabulous.

  20. Outside the box die cutting is always an eye catcher, isn't it? Looks lovely, Leslie! And yes, your tucked away bow is darling! Even after deleting 1/2 of my ribbon stash, I still have tons. It's a shame we didn't know about the upcoming postal changes at the time. It's a beautiful card, my friend! xx
