Tool Time

Hi, friends!  I'm late for the date, but still wanted to share the Father's Day card I made for Rich.  Ordinarily I make him a card that's essentially from Wally and LuLu, but he's been working so hard trying to get our south deck built (despite other distractions) that this is the first thing that came to mind.  I've used the Tutti Designs Tool Frame die (current) with a favorite old Nailed It stamp set from Our Craft Lounge (out of business).

The frame is layered for dimension, and the top layer has two coats of silver embossing.  I glued the Tool Frame to a narrow black frame then popped it up on the card front after I stamped the sentiment.  Stamps are colored with Copics, cut out and positioned inside the frame.

The inside has a Hero Arts sentiment with more stamping and wood grain paper.

It's not flowers or cute critters or anything brand new, but it was a fun card to make.  I love working with frames.

Take good care of yourselves and we'll get together again soon!

Stamps:  Our Craft Lounge 'You Nailed It' (out of business), Hero Arts Father's Day sentiment  Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Super Smooth Solar White 80 & 110 lb, black, Ms Sparkle & Co wood grain designer paper with extra lines drawn with marker to make narrower boards  Ink:  Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black, dark gray Tombow marker  Coloring:  Copics  Other:  Silver embossing powder, Spellbinders square dies to make black frame, Tutti Designs Tool Frame, Scotch brand foam mounting tape to pop up frame

  1. Your card is very manly indeed. I love the silver embossing and the fact you pulled this off without a flower in sight! My late husband would let me do flowers for him as long as they were tiny and not too bright. He loved gardening so it was right up his alley! Hope the rest of your week is a good one!

  5. This is a great manly card. My hubby does construction work and that die would be perfect to use for him (guess you are enabling me huh?) - I like the tool stamp as well, was sad when they went out of business.

  6. What a great card you gave Rich! I'm sure he loved it! I love the frame with all the tools surrounding it and the tape measure with the sentiment is just perfect! The inside sentiment just finishes off the card perfectly. I think when all this construction business is over the two of you should head out in your RV and enjoy a good rest! Hope Lulu is doing well! Take care!

  24. This is just an amazing and beautiful card, Leslie.
Every time I see a masculine card I'm reminded that I have very few stamps or dies that will create a card fitted for the guys in our life.
Your card is fun and I love the pop of colors right in the middle of this fantastic tool frame, thank you so much for sharing.
I'm trying to catch up too, my friend, there has been some changes in my daily schedule to take care of driving my grandkids to their summer activities. Mainly Orchestra and swimming.
But I love it, I get to see them and chat with them and I'm so happy to say they are healthy and observing the guide lines, wearing their masks and keeping a small bottle of hand disinfectant in their back packs.
Hope your fur babies are doing better, I keep you and them in my prayers every day.
Stay healthy and safe, my friend.
    XO
