Retro Valentine Wishes

Hello on a Monday, friends!

I learned to type on a manual typewriter, probably much older than this one, but not nearly as cute.  My card accidently came out retro-looking, so I'm going with that.  The daisy flower punch is so old it could almost be called retro, anyway.

Today's challenges:

That's it from me!  Trigger finger is cutting my typing and coloring time short, so I'm not sure how much of that I'll be able to do coming up.  This week's cards were all made prior to the flare up.  Signing off with a wish for a beautiful day!

Supplies:

  • Marianne Designs Typewriter stamp and die combo
  • Tutti Stitched Nesting Hearts
  • Old SU daisy punch, 1/4" circle punch, SU Subtle embossing folder, Stickles Stardust glitter glue
  • CTMH Primrose and Shell Pink card stock (years old), DCWV Baby Girl designer paper (also years old)

  2. It's the patterned paper and colours that are creating that gorgeous retro vibe I think Leslie! I have also left a message on your Goldens and Garden site as I wanted to visit your beautiful dogs! Vicky x

  3. Adorably cute cute pink typewriter and card! Gee, I wonder what the kids would do today if they had to learn on a typewriter? Hope your finger heels up fast, if you can't do anything else you can be like me and shop , it is so ridiculous I have to STOP! Thank you for joining our fun challenge at Double D!

  5. OMG what an adorable creation! Oh yes ... I too remember the old Royal Typewriters! That's what I learned on too but doubt my fingers would have the strength today to strike those keys hard enough! LOL
Love this ... great job (as always) my friend! Hugs & Good Health to you!

  6. An absolutely darling card, Leslie! I love the pink and pretty patterns. The retro colors and typewriter are good choices and the daisies are the icing on the cake! Sorry to hear of the flare, heal well.

  7. Trigger finger? Ack! Terrible for a card maker...and one who colors! Your retro card is so cute. I learned on a much, much older typewriter and then an electric when I worked in college. I also had a portable in college, a machine that crossed the Pacific to my years in Micronesia. It was cute, but not as cute as the one on this card. :-) I do hope your hand gets better.

  8. Very cute. Would love to have a cute typewriter like that. That's the kind they had when I was much younger. Sorry about your "trigger" finger. I hope that clears up soon.

  9. Ok, Leslie, you just took me back to Junior High in Mexico, when I was 16 y/o and took typing and shorthand mainly because my mom said it will help me in the future.
She was so right, among a lot of things, I owe my mom my ability to typewrite with ease.
My little typewriter was pistachio green, I loved it and yours is just as adorable in pink.
I love the sentiment page coming out of the machine, the DSP you chose is just the perfect compliment for this sweet, vintage typewriter.
I'm so happy to see this sweet card over at the SHOPPING OUR STASH challenge, thank you for sharing it with us.
    Stay healthy and safe.
    XO

  11. Your card is just delightful - what a fun Valentine card! Your DSP just makes this card especially with the sentiment. I too learned from a manual typewriter many years ago. I remember Rachel finding it in the attic and wanting to know what it was!! Trigger fingers are not fun - I have one on each hand. I have had shots but they keep coming back. I also wear small finger braces at night which does help them along with the MS numbness. I'm sure it does bother you when coloring. Hope it feels better soon! Have a great week!

  12. Oh the memories of typing class...it was still a manual keyed one when I learned. I was thrilled to get an electric of my own once the daisy wheel letters came out. Darling card, and fabulously retro.

  20. Great retro feel to it, I started out on a manual typewriter in High school and then got excited when they got the electric ones in :)
Such fun patterns, fun and cute!
Sorry to hear about the trigger finger, I have had mine get stuck straight and had to get it to bend again but thankfully it hasn't lasted long, hope yours gets better soon!

  21. How did I miss this post?!!! Love your card today Leslie (sorry i'm a few days late). Oh yes, I remember too well the manual typewriter. I remember my Dad buying me my first one in high school, I can still picture it and it even had a little carrying case. Then, remember the IBM typewriters(electric) in school, that had that little ball with all the numbers and letters on it and it would spin around as you typed - okay i'm probably dating myself here! Your card is so colourful, love all the layers, it's just a very happy valentines card, Love it Leslie! I hope your trigger finger gets better soon! Take care,

  22. First of all, Leslie, I'm sorry to hear you are suffering from a trigger finger. They are so very painful and I hope the flare settles down soon for you. I know how much you are missing your art. This Valentine with its retro look and super fun old typewriter makes me smile! I, too, learned to type on one and hated it. Talk about hurt fingers! I have very short pinkie fingers so it was nearly impossible. I was so happy when our school was selected to get some of the very first electric IBM typewriters! They even came to our class and did a film; I guess it was for a commercial? Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Take care and keep safe! Hugs, Darnell
