Twofer Flowers

Hey, there!  It was a dark and rainy day when I made these cards to play along in the Twofer Card Challenge #34 ~ Flowers.  Later that night our power went out for several hours.  It was quite stormy!  You can probably imagine I needed a little sunshine... so I gave it to myself!

The Twofer Challenge requires two different card designs for two different occasions using the same stamp, stencil, and/or die.  All is explained quite nicely on the challenge blog.  I have a "cheer up" card and a birthday card.  Same colors, but switched around.  The card designs/sketches are completely different.

My stamp in common is Rubbernecker Sketch Daisies which I bought before Christmas and had not yet used.  The sunshine card has a sentiment from a Sizzix stamp and die set.  I drew the vertical lines with a black marker, added the dots.  Black Diamond Stickles on the dots, flower centers, and butterfly body.

All coloring was done with Copic markers.   The birthday card has a designer paper card base and random dots courtesy of retired SU Itty Bitty Backgrounds set.

NBUS Challenge #22 -- My flower stamp is fresh out of the package.

Both cards are destined for the mail ASAP, and I hope they'll arrive with sunshine and smiles intact.  Have a happy day!

  5. Don't we all need a little sunshine right now and these lovely cards certainly deliver it, Leslie! They are both so cheery and I love the colour scheme you chose. I love the lines you added behind the circle too - such an artsy touch and leaving some of the sentiment white was a great idea.
    Take care,
    Hugs

  18. Oh they are beautiful, I love your color combo and those flowers have such whimsy to them, I love how you made your own background details on the first one, goes perfectly with the stamp, such pretty coloring of the butterfly too. I like how you added butterflies to the second but it looks so different with the different style of butterfly, and the plaid paper is wonderful with it!
I am sure they will bring a smile that's for sure.
Hope you weren't without power for too long, take care!

  20. Bright and sunny yellow and blue flowers are so, so appropriate for this special day in our country! I love them, Leslie, and you'll get a kick out of the fact that you have enabled me yet again because the happy whimsy of the stamp image really speaks to me! I think the little yellow butterflies and schplatters work perfectly on the birthday card! Thank you for playing in TCC #34 and sharing with everyone at NBUS! Keep safe and well! Hugs, Darnell

  21. Two fabulous designs. You should challenge yourself to color up several simple stamps one day and make cards the another day to see how many cards you can make that look entirely different like these. I did that once with a sketch and came up with 20 totally different cards... it was fun.
