SILHOUETTES
Make a silhouette the primary focus of your project.
Sounds pretty easy, doesn't it? Well, it is! I don't have a lot of silhouette stamps, but no problem... I have lots of dies that make awesome silhouettes. I took this opportunity to increase my Christmas card stash with my current favorite Christmas die. It's by Cottage Cutz, called Santa's Best Friends.
- Layered black on white with a punched white circle behind the moon area.
- Swiped white ink over navy cardstock then adhered the best friends on top.
- Everything went onto a wood grain cardstock base.
- Color and sparkle added with a star die cut from red glitter paper.
Seriously easy.
In addition to creative winners, Darlene and Diane (Double D owners) always generously give a prize to a random winner. For this challenge Darlene is offering a cute fairy die:
Since I need to get a move on with the Christmas cards, I made three.
Christmas card total: 26. Not nearly enough. I'll need to triple that. If it starts to feel stressful, I'll resort to store bought. This needs to be fun, right?
Speaking of fun, play along with us in our "Silhouettes" challenge at Double D. My DD teamies have some great samples to share, inspired by every corner of the mood board.
Have yourself a beautiful day!
Lots going on in your world! Loving your Christmas cards and I think it is wonderful that you aren't afraid to resort to store bought if it is needed. No shame there my friend!
ReplyDeleteI love love this die and yes I have it too, it makes a wonderful card, and funny thing is I almost brought it out too, but went with my Cricut instead...good thing right? I love this card and just adding the pop of red sets those fun critters off perfectly!! Sorry I am late in wishing you a happy birthday, it has been a zoo here lately and we are on the road again until Tuesday...your card should be there by Saturday at the latest and thank you for my gorgeous card you sent...LOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteOMG these are adorable!! Never thought about it but guess our pets look forward to Santa's visit too! LOL Love how you shadowed the image ... perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to use a die for the silhouette. So festive.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about not having enough Christmas cards.
ReplyDeleteLove you little silhouette line up of dogs, Santa comes to everyone :)
Great die - such cute dogs. Good luck with your Christmas cards!
ReplyDeletevery nice. Have a great day
ReplyDeleteYou are right on with your Christmas cards. I don't have any silhouette dies. I really like how this card looks. The dogs look so cute looking up at Santa. I went to Memory Box looking for the cross stitched die and nothing. Is that an old die maybe?
ReplyDeleteWonderful silhouette cards. You've more holiday cards done than me!
ReplyDeleteLeslie: There's something so endearing about little animals looking up to the sky to see Santa and his Reindeer flying by.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this card, these sweet doggies could be Wally, Luly and our sweet DeJaVu, a 3-year-old Siberian Huskey we got at a rescue center 2 years ago this past May.
Beautiful card, my friend, thank you for sharing.
XO
Maria.
So Beautiful. I love the white edging around the images. Such a simple, easy card, but so stunning. BTW, Happy belated birthday. Sorry I missed it the other day.
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that....puppies on Christmas Eve. Love the silhouette and how you layered it. Looks magical!
ReplyDeleteI love your wonderful Christmas cards. So cute with the puppies looking up to Santa flying by. I wonder....do all silhouettes have to be black? I see that is mostly the way they are used.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the clever idea of using dies for silhouettes. Your Christmas card with dogs watching Santa and his sleigh flying across the sky is darling.
ReplyDeleteFabulous silhouette scene, Leslie! The added white edges around the silhouette figures look amazing. So fun! I hear ya on the card count...
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun one Leslie! I bought it too! Three daughters with dogs...not me. hehe I need to use mine and all the other ones I've collected because they're so fun! Your total is amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh Leslie, how beautiful are these cards! You are so brilliant for using die cuts as the silhouette. I just love the scene you created! I really like the white layer behind the image, just makes this pop! Wow 26 you say, well I have 4, a long way to go. I always have great intentions while at work of all the cards I want to make, then I get home (and we are back to OT again), I'm just too tired to work on cards. And I see you just had a birthday, sending Happy Belated Birthday wishes. I hope you had a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteVery cute and makes for quick cards for Christmas. I like the crisp and clean feeling. Great job on getting more done this year.
ReplyDeleteNothing like three dogs in a row watching Santa go bye...sure is a cutie.xx

ReplyDeletethat is just way too cute, I bet inspired by the play date that Wally and Lulu just had :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Christmas card and love the silhouette images-nowadays I only make for immediate family the rest get shop bought less stress!

Such a fun card. You can sense the awe as the dogs watch Santa. The white makes the black pop.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE these!! I really like silhouette cards can you tell..lol?!
ReplyDeleteWell how adorable. That die is so stinkin' cute, and offsetting the white under the black just makes this card pop. I LOVE the image, it just makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute, Leslie!! Our entire family are dog lovers...my daughters, niece, and brother, and Dad. Makes me wish I had a few of these for quick cards. They are fun and festive, with the red glittered star!! You are doing so well with your handmade Christmas cards too!! I am very impressed.
ReplyDeleteReading a few of the comments, I am late to your birthday...so Happy Belated Birthday and also wishing you a year ahead of your favorite furry friends, family, friends, nature and blessings. We have so very much to be thankful for!
