Twofer Card Challenge #20: Critters

Welcome to another Twofer Card Challenge!  We're doing Critters this time around and, oh, my goodness, do I ever have a lot of critter stamps.  I hope you have something in your collection of stamps, dies, or stencils so you can play along, too!

I have critter stamps I haven't used yet... so many choices... I decided to use a Laurel Burch Stampendous stamp called Rainbow Safari to make a "hello" card and a birthday card.  I love this stamp so much and I'm hanging my head that I haven't used it till now.  Well, gee, I've recently added more Laurel Burch to my collection so I'd better get busy with the coloring.

I made the birthday card all fanciful and very colorful.  I pulled a shaded Oxide ink background panel from my stash and stenciled some leaves over top of it (Carte Bella Wander & Find).  Added a sentiment from another Laurel Burch set - Fish Wishes - and a die cut leaf.  More stenciling, faintly, on the sentiment panel.

The "hello" card is rather clean and simple.  I cropped the image and changed the layout, or design, by repositioning the image panel and sentiment in relation to each other.  Framed it with an older and probably retired Memory Box Jasmine Frame.  Cut the "hello" with a much newer Die-namics #captions die.

So there you have my Twofers... now let's see yours!  Check out more fun samples on the Twofer Challenge Blog.  Thank you!

  4. These designs are so fresh and such a colorful treat for the eyes, Leslie! The styling on your birthday card reminds me of Debbie Munn images. Remember her from years ago? I love the stylized drawings and the way you added perfect stenciled details and the perfect sediment! Your CAS cropped ellie is again colored beautifully. The jasmine frame and sideways sediment are inspired features!! Hugs, Darnell

  6. Your "Twofers" are too fabulous for words!
I loved the colorful-ness of the first card so much, and I admire the inked and stenciled background. It all works together so well! But I am gobsmacked by the impact of the clean and simple card. I'm used to thinking of critters as cute but your elephants have dignity and elegance!

  19. Very cool, I love how different you can make them look by coloring them different and great idea to use just a portion of the stamp, I almost used this frame die the other day :) The first is just wonderful how colorful you made it, like how you carried that through with the stenciling too. Fun sentiment to go with it! Like how you put the sentiment on the side in the second card, the framing goes so well with the image!

  20. Gorgeous cards, Leslie! I absolutely love how you colored your "dancing" card! The stenciling is a perfect background for it too! You sure made that stamp look versatile with your focus on the elephant for your hello card. I love how you added the yellow to the dots to go with the yellow you colored in the patterns. A perfect twofer!

  22. I'm so far behind, Leslie, and for that I apologize. I should have stopped by right away to tell you that your Twofer cards are incredible! A red zebra. A turquoise elephant. All those colors on the leaves and such. Plus the pretty, pretty stenciling. The card alone dances in celebration! Simply stunning. And your hello card. Tons of interest, including the frame! Clever girl! It draws the eye right in to your focal point. Amazing cards. Love 'em both!! xo Bev

  27. Hi there Leslie: Well, I finally finished my Twofer cards, I couldn't decide what critters to use, LOL!! all of them are so darn cute.
But anywho, your cards are stunning, love the CAS look on your first card, framing that beautiful elephant with that delicate die-cut was a genius idea. And your second card is amazing, the colors of this wild critters are gorgeous, I've never imagined coloring these creatures in any colors other than their own, I love the look of them wearing such fabulous "outfits".
The words on the sentiment on the second card are what keeps this old gal pushing forward.
    Awesome cards, my friend.
    Sending hugs.
