The flowers are colored with Copics on Neenah 110 lb white, then closely cut with scissors. I didn't worry about flower authenticity and just made it up as I went along. However, I may not be far off. I have a pot full of those little yellow flowers with their green centers, and I do believe I've seen a similar peony.
About the card base: It's a pale plum Bazzill textured card stock which I swiped with white ink. It brings out the texture of the card stock and the pattern of the die cut. I slipped a panel of wood grain paper under the die cut and arranged the flowers over top.
The paper, by the way, is from yet another of my new Mintay pads. This one is called Lovely Day.
Little by little I'm catching up after our last trip away. It's a good feeling. Without delay I need to start a card for my 1 yr old neighbor's birthday, so if it turns out halfway decent I'll pop in with that on Monday. See you soon!

ReplyDeleteI can take flowers ANY time of the year and this one is gorgeous! I kept studying it and studying it to learn from your shading! Always the most beautiful coloring and designs! We won't be going to the Lake House (or north as we like to call it) as much as we were, gee I don't like seeing summer end even those I love Fall, but is here and gone in a flash it seems, and we have frost predicted around 2nd week of October. Wondering if your Christmas Mintay has arrived, mine is on it's way, I had to cancel another item on the pre-order to get it to ship now, I just couldn't wait any longer, that Fran from Frantic Stamper sure is a VERY nice person!!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a treat when you post a card with flowers! You are the undisputed Queen of flowers,as far as I'm concerned! NOBODY colors them the way you do! They always look more like photographs than colored images! What a great way to start the day!

No matter what the season Leslie, I love your floral cards. Today's card is absolutely stunning! Your colouring blows me away, perfect shading and highlights. Beautiful colours. The swirly die cut is gorgeous as well, and the way you tucked under the wood grain paper, my my so pretty! I have some new Mintay paper packs but just haven't had a chance to dig into them yet. I even have the christmas one, oh my what beautiful papers. They are to pretty to use - lol! And your fussy cutting is so perfect. I love the colors you used for flowers, such gorgeous coloring, it looks great up against the wood grain background. That is one gorgeous border die, love the dimension/embossing of it.

This is so gorgeous! I love that swirly die cut and love the colors that you used for the peony. We had peony bushes at my house where I grew up, lovely big blooms, but none this color. That would have been awesome.
ReplyDeletePeonies are never out of season for me! I have one that is very similar to this one. And I believe I know those little flowers, too. I'm not happy when summer ends, but I planted 10 peonies in a new "peony garden" last week. 6 of them are new to me; the other 4 are ones I transplanted from other areas around my house where they weren't doing well. Now there will be sunshine all peony season, short as it is, and I'm thrilled. The die cut that you've used to frame the flowers is a beautiful choice for your beautiful coloring.
