Twofer Trees

Hooray, I got some cards done in time for the Twofer Challenge!  I missed it last month.  I have lots of card needs currently and have been very busy with stamping and other things, so I put this challenge to work for me.  Thanks Twofer!

The theme this month is "Trees", so I pulled out a very pretty tree from my Power Poppy stash -- Tree of Life.  The whimsical look of this stamp set makes for no-rules coloring, so I didn't worry about getting everything just right.  Minimal colors, quick designs.  Here's my Twofer together:

The idea of this challenge is to use the same stamp on two distinctly different cards for different purposes or occasions.  You can be clever and creative, or simply make regular old cards.  I colored each the same, but you can see the differences in the designs.

These cards are going in the mail toot sweet, so no fooling around with chunky embellishments.  The first is for someone experiencing tough times.

Pictured below is the inside of the first card with a sentiment from Power Poppy's Lavender set.  I lined both sides of the card because there will be a lot of writing in this one.

Next is a get well card with a Big Scripts "hello".  I was thinking if I used just the top of the tree it would look more like a bush.  That's about as creative as I got today.

Inside is another mix of Power Poppy sentiments using Good Thinking: Renewal, and Nice Things to Say.

The Twofer Trees Challenge is open till the 24th.  It really helped me focus when my brain is going in a dozen different directions.

I'm off and running again!  Have a good day!

  1. Leslie, I love when you do your 'twofer' card series. Both of these are beautiful. First card - the way the tree is cut off the side, makes for a very interesting layout, who says you need to stamp it centered? but I always seem to do that!. Great layering of papers inside and out as well as the sentiments. Second card - love how you just used the top portion of the tree - I would of never thought of that - again your creativity shows well in this one. Great sentiments on this one as well. (love the gingham paper!). It was a nice surprise to seeing your post today being a Sunday, a great way to start my day! Have a wonderful day. It's going to be a hot one here today and Monday reaching 112 F! Yikes..way too hot for me.

  4. Such beauties, Leslie! Your colors always are so fresh and ALIVE! Your bird-filled tree reminds me of our trees, so laden with birds of all colors and sizes. It's a joy seeing nature at her best, especially in your pretty cards. I especially like the artistic use of your scallop partial tree. Looks like a bush reaching towards the sky behind a neighbor's fence! Beautiful creations, Miss Leslie! xx

  6. Oh my gosh, Leslie. Way to see the possibilities of your stamps. Both cards are beautiful but using the top of the tree as a border and pairing it with the gingham is genius. Lovely coloring too.

  8. Hello Leslie: I was anxiously waiting for your Twofer cards since you said you were going to post them on Sunday.
I'm taking a breather from the awesome World Cup of Soccer games (in which Mexico beat Germany 1-0) to come and check my email and I found your Twofer card email.
These are amazing cards, love how you used this lovely Power Poppy stamp in such fabulous and different ways. Both cards are colored beautifully.
Love how you used the whole tree on this reasuring and beautiful card and the clever way you just took the top of the tree to create a border for your second card. The addition of the Gingham pattern paper is just perfection.
Thank you for sharing and for giving this fun Twofer Challenge a try.
    Big hugs, my friend.
    Maria Rodriguez.

  10. This is such a beautiful image Leslie. Your colouring has really brought it to life giving it lots of depth and dimension. Great work mixing papers for the background of your first card. The colours are so summery and very uplifting. I'm sure it will bring a lot of comfort to your friend.

The second card is also beautiful using the tree top to create a bush. Adding the gingham background and scalloped edging make this a happy card that is sure to cheer up your sick friend. Great work with both designs. Thanks for playing along with us at Twofer Card Challenge.

  14. I know you're busy getting ready to go have some fun, Leslie, so I appreciate that you took the time to play and I'm glad the challenge worked for your immediate card needs! I have to say I need to check out that company as I love that tree and all the sediments. Of course, the way you have designed your total package outside and inside makes everything look amazing! Using just the top of the tree does totally work as a flowering shrub and the sweet scallop edge, teal card base, and gingham pattern work to enhance it even more! You rock! Thank you so much for joining in Twofer Card Challenge #6! (Enjoy!!) Hugs, Darnell

  26. Oh, Leslie, I LOVE the two-fer cards too (a lot), and they inspire me so much! Thank you! I love this beautiful and sweet tree filled with darling birds, fruit, and flowers, and it really makes for a darling card. Love both designs, and I also love how you've finished the insides as well (great idea for when I need to write a lot more than just one side). Thanks for your amazing artistry and for inspiring me so much! I've been (as a friend said recently on SCS) in a "no-jo" place! Ha! But I'll make my way back. Hugs, sweet friend! xoxo
