Twofer Challenge -- Hearts

Hi, there, and happy Friday!  I'm playing along today in Darnell's Twofer Challenge.  The theme this time around is "hearts".  Use the same stamp to create two different cards for different purposes.  Stretch your stamps and have fun doing it!

I used a very old wood block "Fancy Heart" by StampCraft.  It's so old I don't even know if they make stamps anymore, but I've liked the stamp enough to keep it all these years.  So here are my two cards:

There's a conspicuous lack of color -- not my usual way, but might as well do something different once in a while.  That's SU's old Green Galore.  The "perfect" card shows the stamp as is, and the "fantastic" card shows it turned into a butterfly, all chunky and funky with wonky antennae and pearls for its body.

#1 with Spellbinders Elegant Ovals and Verve Amazing Adjectives.  This one is a thank you card.  Inside is a Shakespeare quote, "My heart is forever at your service".

#2 is the butterfly.  I thought it would be fun to use the flourishy bow as a sort of flight trail.  The wonky antennae are a portion of a swirly die.  I know, really pushing the envelope.  Punched flowers with die cut leaves.  Glitter paper.  A few dots of clear glitter here and there.  It's a 4 1/4" gift enclosure, intended as a combination retirement/new home congratulations for a friend.  I'm going to try to find a not-too-tacky butterfly wind chimes to send with it.

The butterfly and flight trail are coated with Wink of Stella.  The inside sentiment is from Words to the Rescue Variety Pack 1.

Okay, that was fun and quick and now I have two cards ready to mail.  I even used ribbon!  Thanks for a perfectly fantastic challenge, Darnell!  Enjoy your day and I'll see you all next week!

  6. These are so pretty, elegant, and striking with the black word sentiments, Leslie!! The idea of sending a “ not too tacky” wind chime with it made me laugh!! Sometimes we make the card and then search for the gift to go with it...I’m sure whatever you choose will be beautiful! I’ve not seen this challenge before, will check it out.

  13. Wow! Both are absolutely fabulous! I have to say I do love that butterfly one. So creative. I've got another season coming up soon. It will be interesting to see how the butterfly season goes. Last year it was't until the end of the season that I saw any around my yard.

  16. Two beautiful heart cards Leslie. I love that you kept the colours the same, but the designs are so totally different. Your first card is so pretty with the intricate die-cut oval layers and sheer ribbon accent. And of course, that gorgeous heart with flourish. No wonder you've kept this for a long time ... it's a beautiful heart image. Love how you've turned the hearts into a sweet butterfly for your second card. The body and antennae are perfect details. And your glittery flowers are so pretty. Thank for joining us at Twofer Card Challenge!! xx

  17. Both cards are so elegant and pretty, yet so different. Love how you have made the hearts into a gorgeous butterfly, this challenge really makes you think outside the box doesn't it? I still am trying to do just that lol! Hope you are having great weather and are able to do a little camping with the 'boys'. My little boy goes in the 27th for his 'ahem' surgery poor baby, it scares me!!

  19. You know what they say - art is not what the artist does, it's what the viewer SEES in the artist's handy work - and WOW! Two delightful two-fer cards! I love how you showed the exact same stamps in a slightly ordinary way (never completely ordinary because the Leslie Touch makes them extraordinary), but that heartterfly is adorable! Right down to the "flutter" beneath it! They are two beautiful creations, Leslie. I especially like your layers in the oval creation. Thanks for this morning's inspiration! hugs, de

  22. Such a beautiful stamp to use for your twofer! I can see why it has kept its place all these years. Both of your cards are wonderful, and you really demonstrate how one stamp, even in the same colors, can look so dramatically different! 23. You can do no wrong with colours and card designs as far as I'm concerned... These are gorgeous, I adore the colours.. So clever to make that butterfly... I hadn't realised it was the same stamp at first!

  24. I can see why you keep this stamp, Leslie! It's really beautiful used as a heart and now you can see it makes the coolest chunky butterfly, too, so it's even more beloved! Your feminine "perfect" card is just that and what an amazingly perfect inside quote you have for it! I love that oval frame and the touch of organza black ribbon makes the design even more elegant!

And your funky new home/retirement card is - sorry, I HAVE TO say it - "fantastic!" I know, I'm a cornball! But you have to admit it really is fantastic and the inside makes it more so! This card will be cherished by your friend forever! Thank you so much for playing along in Twofer Card Challenge #2!! Hugs, Darnell
